Trade Tidbits from the Mendacity Trail [Exec Admits Not Printing 1 Million Copies of Living History]
Short Cuts ^ | June 12, 2003 8:00AM EST | Morning staff report

Posted on 06/12/2003 6:39:06 AM PDT by ewing

The Washington Prowler, always on the move at the Amercian Spectator Magazine, drops a news nugget in todays offering-an internal memo from Hillary's publishing house virtually admitting that they produced the 'leak' (about her gasping reaction to the Monica Lewinsky lying) to jump start the book.

We are adding this to a statement we recieved from deep inside the mighty publishing house from an executive in a position to know (always trust the working bees in life):

'No way we would publish 1,000,000 copies of anything. It's only necessary to say that we did. Besides where would we put them?'

Asked about the 'astounding' 200,000 copies Hillary sold on the first day of publication. There is no possible way for us to know that.'

If that isn't enough, check out Ann Coulter's new column of Hillary's 'fan man' on the street.

This is a guy who has been boring the New York Press Coprs forever. Wonder if they were dumb enough to actually hire him?

Heheheheh. This is going to be just like the New York Times fiasco. There are enough disgruntled employees at Siimon and Schuster, Barnes and Noble, Amazon and the like that the information is going to leak out.

Heheheh.

I think its hysterical. If she really sold 200k on MOnday, they must all be packed away at DNC headquarters.

virtually admitting that they produced the 'leak' (about her gasping reaction to the Monica Lewinsky lying) to jump start the book.

The first she knew of it was when she read the book.

Smartest woman in the world? The world has been inundated with news of her since 1992. I have seen her lie, cheat, steal, extort, blackmail and God only knows what else, but I have yet to see her do anything smart.

I bet you are right.

I also wonder how long it will be before an interesting memo or purchase order shows up on The Smoking Gun.

Heheheh.

The "Man on the Street" sounds like "The Tourist Guy". Whatever happened to him?

Chillary was the one hiring the private detectives to crush the 'bimbo eruptions' and get affitdavits for the 1992 campaign!

Someone was explaining, on another thread, how publishing houses compile their data on books sold. (I think it was Common Tator, but I can't remember for sure).

It was pointed out that in most cases the 'number sold' refers to how many books the publisher has sold to various book stores and outlets. NOT how many books have been sold to consumers.

If this is the case, and I have no reason to doubt the sincerity of the poster of this information, a lot of what we've been reading about the success of this book is actually 'Spin and Grin' (a Carvillian term, if I ever saw one).

I had originally assumed the publishers were responsible for the early leaks on the book, so that isn't a suprise, just verification.

What I really want to know is how many books were truely printed on the first run. And secondly, the info we saw yesterday about an additional 200,000 books being printed,,, which was boosted to 300,000 later in the day,,, . I'm just curious to know if the additional printing info is factual.

Sounds like the left wing execs at S&S are Enronning their company to pay for the $8 million money laundry scheme for $enator Hildebea$t.

Maybe some stockholders of Viacom need to be screaming to the SEC to investigate this outrageous wasted and possible money laundering scheme.

Or possibly 200,000 copies were ordered on that one day from Unions, University Lie-braries and the DNC?

Is this really true? This makes "Anonymous Source" sound like the reliable girl-next-door!

Another average individual eager to get Hillary's book was Greg Packer, who was the centerpiece of the New York Times' "man on the street" interview about Hillary-mania. After being first in line for an autographed book at the Fifth Avenue Barnes & Noble, Packer gushed to the Times: "I'm a big fan of Hillary and Bill's. I want to change her mind about running for president. I want to be part of her campaign."
-
It was easy for the Times to spell Packer's name right because he is apparently the entire media's designated "man on the street" for all articles ever written. He has appeared in news stories more than 100 times as a random member of the public. Packer was quoted on his reaction to military strikes against Iraq; he was quoted at the St. Patrick's Day Parade, the Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Veterans' Day Parade. He was quoted at not one ? but two ? New Year's Eve celebrations at Times Square. He was quoted at the opening of a new "Star Wars" movie, at the opening of an H&M clothing store on Fifth Avenue and at the opening of the viewing stand at Ground Zero. He has been quoted at Yankees games, Mets games, Jets games ? even getting tickets for the Brooklyn Cyclones. He was quoted at a Clinton fund-raiser at Alec Baldwin's house in the Hamptons and the pope's visit to Giants stadium.
-
Are all reporters writing their stories from Jayson Blair's house? Whether or not it will help her presidential ambitions, Living History definitely positions Hillary nicely for a job as a reporter.

Yes, that is true. You can find references to him in a variety of stories if you do a google search. Ann uses Nexus so no doubt found more references.

He is simply someone whose hobby is showing up at every opening, book-signing, big-name concert, etc. with the goal of being first in line and getting autographs.

They are probably printing them as the orders come in. Probably in China somewhere.
