ISTANBUL, June 13 -- Clashes between students and security forces in Tehran appear to be the most significant civic protests inside Iran for in almost five years, analysts and witnesses say, but it was far from clear this morning whether the unrest would extend to the general population.
Authorities made a huge show of force at Tehran University Thursday night, busing in hundreds of riot police to deter students from mounting a third night of protests. Witnesses said students gathered in a dormitory for hours after dark weighing whether to risk clashes with police and the basij militia who serve as street enforcers for the conservatives.

On occassion. the people in the street are brave and right, just not in our country.
We don't take to the streets--we should.

The Iranian government should be sweating about now. These things can get out of hand easily. One little incident could trigger an explosion.

Good! It will get worse- much worse, before it gets better. I have faith in the young Iranians. They want freedom, because freedom is contageous and everyone wants to catch it!

Islamic rule works better for some people than for others. The Arabs might be perfectly happy living that way but Persians seem to be more open and friendly and rational.

Reminds me of an old spoof by ESPN regarding the labor dispute between the MLB owners and players. They played a song while showing clips of the conference room table with each side occupying a side of the table, and the mediator on the end (appearing to be in the middle of the fray). I don't know the name of the song, nor all the words.
"Clowns to the left of me,
Jokers to the right
Here I am, stuck in the middle of [something]"
Thats where the Iranians are right now.

Just as, in the end, the Soviet Union was the only country in the world completely surrounded by hostile communist nations, the tyrannical mullahs who have oppressed Iran for the past quarter-century fear encirclement by hostile Islamic nations in league with the great American Satan. .................................rest at the link above!

For a long time, Michael Ledeen seemed to be the only one discussing the situation in Iran.
Thanks for the link.

"Witnesses said students gathered in a dormitory for hours after dark weighing whether to risk clashes with police and the basij militia who serve as street enforcers for the conservatives. Shortly after midnight, neighbors heard chants of "Ansar get lost," a taunt directed at the militia known as Ansar Hezbollah."
Things are heating up. They know freedom isn't free, and they seem to be willing to pay the price.
I pray for God to give them strength, and I pray for their protection.
