Heavy clashes rock several areas of the Capital SMCCDI (Information Service) June 15, 2003

Heavy clashes are rockin several areas of Tehran, such as, Majidie, Shariati, Haf Hose and Guisha as thousands of demonstrators have poured into streets and demonstrating against the regime.

Bullets, Knives, Chains, Clubs and Tear Gas are used against the freedom fighters who are responding with Molotov Cocktails and hand made grenades.

The situation in Shariati is chaotic and chase and runs are taking place.

Groups of young commandos have destroyed several patrol bikes units by creating traps, in dark streets, with fine Iron cables destabilizing the motorbykes chasing them.

Situation can be compared to city fight.

Many young commando groups have preferred to listen, till now, in order to avoid using guns in retaliation.

I was a 17 year old sailor during the Iranian hostage crisis. It started an intense dislike in me for all things Iranian.

Now that I am 44 and have been in Japan for many years, I have met with and been friends with a number of Iranians for a while and I know that whatever dislike WE have for Iran, it's tame compared to the seething hatred the majority of the younger generation has for the Mullahs ruling the country.

They prefer to call themselves Persian, have no truck with Arabs and would love to see the Mullahs hanging from lamp posts. The Mullahs know it too. I bet they are scared witless.

The problem is that there is nowhere for the Mullahs to go anymore. They're Shites. They won't be welcome in any of the Arab countries. Iraq is the only other Shite country and that's our turf now.

Sticky, sticky, sticky.... No idea what is going to happen now, but it's going to be interesting to watch.

Saudi Arabia has offered the mullahs a place to go if they must go into exile.

President Bush's hand is in this, I am sure.

If you have them cornered, they will fight, thinking they have nothing left to lose. Give them an escape route, and they may choose to run (or at least enough of them to de-stabilize the regime )

Also, the Saudi's might have decided that lots of pictures of Islamic mullahs hanging from trees and lightpoles might give OTHER people some ideas. It's bad for morale among the mullah-class

I was going to ask what FreeDominion was but I went there instead and found people asking what FreeRepublic was. LOL Thanks for the link. I would like to know what other conservative sites to visit if anyone wants to Freepmail me.

Mods delete this post if against the rules.

"The Iranian Army is composed of 360,000 soldiers loyal to the Islamic state and the Ayatolas."

The key question is: HOW loyal? It's all a matter of will and passion now. If the professed loyalty of the army to the regime is paper thin, and I suspect it is, they may simply refuse to fight the students. Or fight them in a symbolic way and then switch sides. Dictatorial regimes can be very brittle. One push too many and down they go. Here's hoping.

I'd say you've miscalculated just a bit. Perhaps 30,000 soldiers are loyal to the Islamic state and the Ayatollahs, the rest are loyal to the Iranian people. The great majority of them will opt to protect the people.

I doubt we will see it happen.

But wouldn't it be amazing if Persia re-emerged, the way Germany re-emerged from the Bundesrepublik Deutschland and the Deutsche Demokratische Republik?
