Hearing even an unusual thump, I'd be concerned even about hitting an animal, or I'd even want to stop to check out any car damage. The logical thing to do would be to pull over and find out what happened. And, hitting a pedestrian...if an accident, you'd think he'd get out to check on the welfare of the person, and certainly, as a bishop, to pray.

Wow, neither driver stopped? Where's the love?

You have to understand. The bishop is an Important Person.

He has many more Important Things to do, and cannot stop for every minor inconvenience.

I'm not trying to hijack the thread. But...

**Remember the Church is not infallible in all things, and uses its infallibility best when it uses it least, and for the most important moral cause.**

This had been done only two times in the entire history of the Catholic Church.

Do bishops normally drive themselves? They don't have drivers?

"Just speculating here why a bishop would hide."

Agree with your 'speculations'. . .and no doubt,he was hiding or just 'getting his grip';

. . .or maybe he just thought a deer jumped off the city sidewalk or somesuch. . . .

Pathetic, pathetic excuses for Moral leadership. . .

Not to put to fine a point on it, but as a priest was he not also obligated to see if the guy under the tire marks wanted the Last Rites?

. . .not necessarily; he might have known he was an atheist. . .or. . .

he might have thought he was a deer.

Do bishops normally drive themselves?

I would hope so, unless he's somehow physically impaired. Most bishops I've seen or known drive their own cars, unless they're going to some function with another priest, who may drive his car.

I guess they'll be looking for a new bishop for the diocese of Phoenix. He can't run a diocese from a prison cell can he?

Yes, and try to save his life too.

After nearly being indicted for conspiracy, this guy's head is obviously messed up, and Rome should relieve him, no matter what the outcome of these charges are.

Maybe he hit an unclean and figured a Samaritan would soon drive by.

I wonder who will be guest hosting his show tonight?

That said, it is IMPOSSIBLE this Bishop didn't know he'd hit someone or something

Perhaps you are being too hard on the guy? Lots of deer in Phoenix...
