I asked you if FR provide evidence for or against that claim.

I never saw where FR claimed to be an unbiased place. That is what this author is claiming about NPR. Its obvious that humans want to associate with likeminded humans. NPR's employees will obviously be like minded folks. FR's participants will be like minded folks.

The issue isn't the bias, the issue is the claim of unbiased. No one is unbiased and claims that its possible to be so when reporting event is the fraud.

Totenberg is classic NPR.

Here are comments by Jack Doppelt of Northwestern University's School of Journalism, about her coverage of the Thomas Hearings

"I think there was a sneer in her tone that you could not mistake," says Doppelt. "There was a visible irritation that she conveyed when she was debriefing people as they left the hearing room. I think that everyone could tell where she was coming from, and I trust that normally she has the ability to put that aside."

..NPR has been quite careful to present voices from both sides of issues..
$$

Yep, that would be Left and Far Left.

These people actually believe their own lies.

Thanks for the flag.

Well, here goes...

"I asked you if FR provide[s] evidence for or against that claim."

On top of being artless rhetoric, your question is unclear.

FR offers no feature or function with an official party line. A simple search would satisfy that question.

If you're asking what the consensus of FReepers is on NPR and how it serves to reinforce ideology, all I can answer for is myself.

No.

"You're unwilling to answer and resent my having asked."

I'm always willing to debate an issue, but I'd prefer a better level of discourse than you have provided in the past on the topic of NPR and publicly funded media.

"Ironically, you thereby prove the author's point."

Not at all.

I contend with all sorts of illogical reasoning every day.

Most ideologies, at their core, have the tenet that truth is being embodied in the cardinal points of the basic philosophy. Conservatism is no different.

However, Conservatives, by nature, seek the maximum level of freedoms for all - not the suppression of alternative beliefs. As such, competing ideas are always under discussion within Conservatism.

This is the gist of Jefferson's classical liberalism.

As an extension, Conservatives also jealously guard freedom against ideologies that would suppress, harm or diminish the same and, ultimately, threaten the Republic.

For these reasons, IMO, the general discourse on FR is of a much higher level of tolerance and critical analysis than other political media including NPR/PBS. That sustained level of internal awareness and adjustment is part of the reason for the success that Conservatism is currently enjoying. Our message, it seems, is finally coming to the fore.

Interestingly enough, the message bearers of Conservatism are the least afraid of conflict and debate of any out there on the American political scene. We ain't skulking.

No, my friend, Conservatives are the least likely to hoist themselves on their own petards.

"New question: Does NPR reflect your own opinions back at you or does it contradict what you think?"

Sorry.

The basic rules of discourse require you to respond to my prior request:

"It's time you put up your nickle's worth and justify your views that these outlets are worthy of anyone's consideration."

Slightly off-topic:
I actually caught the show change at 8:00 this morning. Having not actually watched PBS in a while, I was surprised at the quality and number of commercials between shows. AOL, Franco-American Spaghetti-Os, and Quaker Oats. The Quaker Oats one was more like what I was used to, just a voiceover of a cartoon "wheat growing" graphic with the logo shown at the very end. The others were straight up commercials with the voiceover changed to indicate they were supporting PBS instead of shouting NEW NEW NEW or whatever. They may not have commercials during the shows, but between shows they sure aren't bashful these days.
