Presidential Catfight: Hillary vs. Condi in 2008?
Fox News ^ | 6/18/03 | Jennifer D.Angelo

NEW YORK — No woman has ever received a major party nomination for the presidency, but some have speculated that in 2008, not one, but two women could be competing for the White House.

In recent interviews, New York Democratic Sen. Hillary Clinton (search) said she had “no intention” of running for president in 2008 -- but did not rule it out, leading many to believe a race is possible. And if the former first lady were to run, some say National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice (search) would be the perfect Republican to run against her.

“I’ve been speculating on that [match-up] for a year and half,” said GOP strategist Cheri Jacobus. “The greatest strength Hillary has is she’s a woman in what many consider a man’s world. If the GOP candidate were [a] woman as well, she’d have to run on merit, not on ‘I’m a woman hear me roar,’” Jacobus said.

Both women have plenty of merits. Born in Chicago on Oct. 26, 1947, Clinton grew up in Park Ridge, Ill., and is a 1973 graduate of Yale Law School. She worked as an attorney while her husband was governor of Arkansas and performed the duties of the nation's first lady for eight years. On Nov. 7, 2000, Clinton became the first first lady to be elected to the U.S. Senate. She is also an established author and advocate of women’s rights and public works projects for her state of New York.

Born Nov. 14, 1954, in segregation-era Birmingham, Ala., Rice got her Ph.D. from the University of Denver's Graduate School of International Studies in 1981. A former political science professor and provost of Stanford University, she was President George H.W. Bush’s adviser on Soviet affairs before becoming the current President Bush’s national security adviser.

On the issues, Hillary is regarded by many as a liberal who tried and failed to nationalize health care.

“The worst thing the Democrats can do is to nominate Hillary. She’s so far to the left that the center would be turned off,” said Republican strategist Paul Pelletier.

The Democrats would not use their ammunition on an American woman of African descent, now would they?

In a freakin' heartbeat, while they were grinning from ear to ear.

My intitial thoughts were Frist (doctor, solid conservative stands) but after seeing him cower somewhat in his role as ML, I don't think so highly of him anymore.

Out of curiosity, how has Frist erred as ML?

I consider him a serious contender, however, he obviously doesn't have the personality....he's a transplant surgeon, after all...not exactly a commoner...unfortunately that doesn't sell in America.

Condi Rice has a 'bad girl' file. Drudge let that out last week.

Must have missed that... Do you have a link?

I feel he's botched the Estrada nomination. Also, the whoe tax cut issue, where he "forgot" to tell Bush and Hastert that the most he could get was half of what was being requested by Mr. Bush.

That's OK. Sometimes we "bad girls" grow up to be tough old conservative broads!

What countries will have a problem? Not Britain or any of the European countries, Not India, Not Turkey, or Israel.

The only ones that might that really matter are Japan, China, Saudi, and they all need slapping down anyway.

Oh I like him! But who knows if he wants to jump into a presidential race. We need strong tough people - Too bad Guiliani and McCain are such RINO's (Although if I had to choose I would take Guiliani over McCain any day). Either one of them could beat the pants off of Hillary! We can't have wimpy or stupid people running against Hillary - Look what happened to Lazio!

If she does, she loses.

If she waits until 2008, she wins.

Come on, that was an unfair attack on Lazio... If you followed the history of that race, Lazio wanted to enter the race right away, but was discouraged by the NY Rep party, as Guiliani didn't want a primary fight... When RG dropped out, Lazio had very little time to get his operatives and campaign off the ground... That, plus the all-powerful liberal media doomed Lazio.

I think she's waiting to see what happens on the economy. If the DOW goes over that psychological barrier of 10,000, then Bush is an automatic win. She's praying every day for some calamity to hit the U.S. to give her a chance to get in. Sad, but true.

Are you referring to Frist or Dreier? Personally, I can't think of a Republican that would be more electable if he were interested (other than Jeb, is his last name weren't Bush).

My bet is VA Sen. George Allen. He is a former Gov. and is currently chairman of the GOP Senate campaign committee (NRSC) -- money and politics. I'm also betting IN Sen. Bayh (D) will challenge the beast in the 2008 primary -- should be a good fight.

How great would it be to see her trounce Boxer? California dreaming, or a possibility?

I would have to say dreaming because California still has a democratic majority. Now, if Arnold against Boxer, all bets are off.

(1) Why her book tour? (2) Why market going up now?

In case you missed a recent poll which showed W at 47% versus BC at 43% and don't realize that the media propaganda for Hillary has just begun, wait until 5 bizillion articles have remade her into Saint Hillary.

(1) Book Tour = Kick Off For President

(2) Dow now 9,300 while most companies are still in trouble. May 2004 Dow 5,500.

Prediction: November 2004 - HC 57% W 41%

HEIL HITLERY! (ME VERY SAD, PROBABLY WILL TAKE THE PIPE)

For the youngsters out there the PIPE means the gas pipe.
