I'm signed up, too. Though Kucinich is my personal choice, I've decided to bow to Hugh Hewitt's request and vote for Dean so as to help form a solid voting block.

Absolutely vote for Kucinich...
Not Al Sharpton. Al has no chance of winning this, so you are essentially diluting the vote. Kucinich is very popular with the far left. How much fun would a Kucinich vs. Bush debate be?
Vote Kucinich in the Move on vote!!!

I should have added: Hugh Hewitts request to vote for Dean is ridiculously stupid. Dean is problematic, as he is pro gun and very slick...he doesn't come off as a pansy politicians like Kerry. MoveOn is going to send the winning candidate a truck load of money...let it go to someone with no hope of winning.

What link are you talking about ...??
Look ... it's like this - if you sign up on Move-On's website, you become a part of their records. They have your email, your address, your telephone ... etc. If the FBI is investigating the organization (because they are Communists - who advocate the overthrow of the U.S. government), your name is going to show up in their records as BEING A MEMBER OF THEIR ORGANIZATION. How stupid is that ...??

Communism can't be against the law. The Communist party of America has their own website...
http://www.cpusa.org There are also groups who marched against the war carrying banners 'Young Communist League'. I believe there are still photos of this protest at
http://www.calpatriot.org also check out the below site to see who made the ballot for president under the Communist party>>

Yup, nothing shows a support for democracy like stuffing a ballot box. But please, do vote for Kucinich. Sharpton isn't getting any votes over there.
But one question. What makes you think that MoveOn is communist? I've looked over the site, and can't find anything suggesting overthrow of the government or any of that. Do you have access to secret internal documents?
Oh, and seriously...the FBI hasn't come crashing through the doors of suspected communists since McCarthy was around. (And while I'm sure a few of you think he was a great American or whatnot, but he really didn't do anything about communism in America. Hoover did, but McCarthy just embarrased some lefty actors/film makers.)

As long as you don't send them money then you aren't supporting them and therefore aren't really associated with them. The site only requires your name (which you can use a fake name if you want) and your email address to participate in the vote. The other fields are optional. DOn't be so paranoid. It makes you look silly.

So you think they are going to go through all 1.4 million registered people there and contact their email providers to get their real names just to see who is registered on a democratic website that makes no mention of communism? I think you need to up your medication or slow down on the crack pipe. You are being paranoid over something silly. Unless you send them money, you aren't supporting them. If they did something illegal or the people involved with the group were hunted down for some reason it would be the people who give them money, not the people who simply registered to vote on their poll.

Ask nicely and ye shall receive. MoveOn.org is now fully "aware" that my street address is 666 and my phone number is (123) 456-7890. And yes, they "accepted" my vote for the Rev. Al!!

Uh, I hate to break up the party but did it occur to anyone that they will be cross-referencing your street address and phone number against the white and yellow pages. It's only been available in electronic form forever. Anyone can buy a consumer version. It took me five seconds to find this one on CD:
http://www.cd-rom-directories.com/index.html?target=dept_164.html&lang=en-us This one contains 104 million residents and businesses and I'm sure there are more advanced ones than this.
They might receive your vote but that doesn't mean it gets counted. Dupes and invalid addresses get thrown out when they run the results against the database. Sorry.
The question is what do they do when they catch you cheating? They have your e-mail... oooooooh. I'll bet they give to the FBI.
To: FreedomRing
My number is unlisted so I don't see how they could do that to mine. And is there a law against lying about your address on an internet poll? I doubt it's something the FBI would bother with. There is no reason for this paranoia over an internet poll. Worst case scenario is they deem your vote invalid and toss it.

I don't know what specific rules Moveon has put in place but I assume they throw out a vote if the number is unlisted. They are not protecting Fort Knox here. This is really just a straw poll to get a sense of which Dem candidate is most favored by the progressive vote. And it's not uncommon to throw out votes that don't meet certain rules - even in a major election. Who could forget the hanging chads in the last presidential election? Sheesh.
My sense is that your wasting your time but if it makes you feel good you go girl... Enjoy Guantanamo Bay!
To: Katya
Ok, you convinced me. I voted for Kucinich. But I did express may "strong support" for Mosely-Braun, Sharpton, Kucinich, and Dean.
To: honeygrl
In case anyone cares -
MoveOn had to limit voters to people over the age of 18...because this counts under federal rules as an actual primary (or something similar), according to them. A 15 year old liberal blogger found this out the other day when he tried to get a ballot.
So there may indeed be some sort of penalty for faking your info. Not sure if anyone will get caught or followed up on (most likely, it'll just get tossed out), but I figured I'd let you all know.
As for those that think this is just a "straw poll", MoveOn is prepared to give any candidate that gets more than 50% of the vote their full support, including their extensive funding support (in 2000, as I recall, it was close to 2 million dollars).
And unless tens of thousands of you signed up, voting for anyone but Dean, Kucinich, or Kerry is pointless. Those guys were top 3 in the actual straw poll not long ago...no one else has a very good shot at getting to 50%. Odds are, no one will anyway..it was a pretty close race last time.
