The signing is limited to 850 people if I remember the article in the newspaper correctly. Since this is a very liberal community you can expect a crowd bigger than 850 and the press to cover it. Nice FREEP opportunity for those so inclined.

Veroman’s an excellent local bookstore (one of my favorites) and worth spending $$$ in despite this event.

She’s probably also making stops at other major bookstores here in the Los Angeles area on both Saturday and Sunday but I haven’t heard where they’ll be. I checked Barnes and Nobel book stores by event for all of California and she doesn’t show up. I also checked the Book Soup website since that’s one of the favorites of the liberals and Dutton’s Brentwood and she’s not scheduled there..

I also checked Borders Bookstores nationwide and only came up with this listing Living History

I was at Vromans when suddenly Charlton Heston came in for his book signing. Nice crowd, didn't look very liberal, nor did it number 850. He came through the back door, stepping directly from his limo into the store. You might want to have freepers with signs standing at driveway so Hitlery sees them...

The GOOD, and the BAD/UGLY are apparently

BOTH coming to southern California this month!

 

1 - We still do not yet have OFFICIAL confirmation of

President Bush's visit to Century City on FRIDAY afternoon/evening (6/27) at 6 pm - but UNOFFICIALLY, we are confident that he will be there, and that security will be INTENSE.

More details soon, when we find out where the Secret Service wants US to gather, and where they want the "bad guys."

 

2 - Hillary Clinton WILL be at Vroman's in Pasadena on SUNDAY morning (6/29) at 11 am.

We have not yet determined exactly how to "welcome" the junior Senator from New York to our fine state of California, but I am certain that we will think of SOMETHING...

Title of Event: SENATOR HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON with her book Living History

Here is what we can tell you now:
1. All books must be purchased at Vroman's on the day of the event, or you may call ahead and reserve a book to pick up after the event is over.
2. The books will be signed before the event. (We have been assured that they are hand-signed, not autopenned).
3. The procedure for getting a book and meeting Senator Clinton will be as follows:

a) Come into the store and pay for as many copies of the book as you would like (at this time there is no limit).
b) You will be given a voucher indicating the number of books for which you have paid.
c) Join the line outside the building
d) When your turn comes you will get to say hello and shake hands with the Senator (at this time we have no details about whether or not photography will be allowed)
e) Then you will hand your voucher to a store employee who will hand you the proper number of books.

This will be her only Southern California booksigning.

I talked with the staff at Vroman's, and it appears that they intend to:

- open the REAR doors at 8:30 am
- give each Hillary! sheep a receipt for however many books they buy
- send them outside to wait in line until 11 am.

All of the above is on their PRIVATE property, however, so we will NOT be able to FReep them there, but the line will almost certainly extend towards the FRONT of the store, through the walkway between the side of their building and the Laemelle Playhouse 7 next door - where they will not be able to escape SEEING us, and HEARING us. :o).

I will talk with the Pasadena police department tomorrow to confirm this, but it appears that we will be able to assemble on the PUBLIC sidewalk directly in front of the store, on Colorado Boulevard - VERY CLOSE to the sheep line.

I will be arriving before all but the most ambitious of the sheep, but suggest that the BULK of our forces plan to be there at 10 am, and stay until the Hildabeast leaves - at around 1 pm.

Rather than park in the Vroman's parking lot (behind their store) - where the sheep will be, I recommennd that we park in the HUGE parking structure about one block east of Vroman's - behind the Target store, which is located at the northeast corner Oak Knoll and Colorado.

Target even has a small food court where we can meet for the post-FReep fellowship and after-action review.

Nobody scouring Hillary Clinton's cautious but admirable new memoir for revelations appears to have stuck around for the acknowledgments.

On page 529, Clinton somewhat shockingly identifies her longtime right arm, Lissa Muscatine, as "[r]esponsible for many of the words in my speeches as first lady and in this book."

How's that again? Responsible for many of the words... ...in this book? If somebody else was responsible for many of the words, then what exactly was Clinton responsible for? The pictures? The typesetting? Hiring Lissa Muscatine?

Maybe in a culture where policy assistants routinely ghostwrite not just their bosses' speeches but even their signed op-ed pieces, where lazy pundits ridicule plagiarists for stealing other people's words but seem to think buying other people's words is standard operating procedure, this sort of thing flies.

Certainly, Clinton wouldn't be the first person to staff out part, or even all, of her autobiography. But for anybody still naive enough to consider written language the purest, unfudgeable fingerprint of a human soul, the admission rankles.

Whoever really wrote "Living History," it's not exactly a knock on Clinton to observe that the book reads as if written by a committee...

I called Vroman's earlier today, to confirm the details about this Sunday.

They transferred me to their "Hillary hotline" which said, as I recall that the Hildabeast will sign a MAXIMUM of eight hundred books, with a limit of two per person, so they estimate that at most 400-500 sheep will get to meet Her Heinous...
