I'm reminded of Danny DeVito in a movie where he's a slumlord ordered by the court to spend time in his own apartment building Actually, that was Joe Pesci in "The Super". Funny movie.

Bull hockey! If you qualify, you race. If she can show herself to be as talented as Dale Jr., she will make a bundle.

A simple question: Why is it incumbent on anyone to "reach out" to anyone else in a free society?Touche`!

There are some jobs that absolutely must be filled based on skill and experience and not skin color or gender--building, maintaining, and driving these tin-can rockets are among those jobs. Well, yeah, but 'Doctor' is another one of those jobs, and it hasn't stopped AA in medical schools.

Nothing is stopping Jessie Jackson from funding and fielding a black NASCAR team. Nothing. If he can get cars that meet spec and a driver that can qualify, he's in. You or I could do the same thing if we had the money.
He and others don't understand the setup of NASCAR and most other motorsports - If you have the money, a legal car, and a driver that can qualify, your in.

I wonder why he does not try his extortion scheme on the NHL, probably not enough dollars in it for him. Probably, but contrary to popular belief the NHL is very diverse. Someone already mentioned Kevin Weekes who is a black goalie for Carolina. Jarome Iginla plays for the Calgary Flames and is black and one of the leagues top scorers. There was a kid drafted on Saturday, I think his name was Andrew Stewart (I could be wrong)- who is black- to play for the LA Kings. Anson Carter plays for the Rangers and is black is very popular.
These are just the black players off the top of my head. There are more. Plus, there are players from every race and every country imaginable. Owen Nolan was born in Ireland. Paul Kariya is half Japanese (sp?). Last year the Blackhawks had a kid at prospect camp who was middle eastern. There are alot of Canadian players who are Indian (Ted Nolan, Theo Fleury, Chris Simon, etc.).
But the fact that NASCAR makes a mountain of money more then the NHL probably has a whole lot more to do with it.

To aid black america in their pursuit of NASCAR... it is surely necessary for the government to establish midnight go-kart racing for troubled black youth. This will help them grow up around the sport of racing and enhance their appreciation for the sport. A sport where physical attributes are not a deciding factor.
Anyone ever priced NASCAR tickets?

Anything less will get people on the track and in the stands killed.Probable response from JJ and the like: (Shrugging the shoulders) "So?"

I love the whole "hoopla" at the beginning. Oh me, too! I'm not a NASCAR fan at all, but the fan fare at the beginning is so cool!

Takes a little more overhead than a $100 pair of Nikes and a $12 basketball.
