Really.

Yes, really.

What do you expect?

Exactly what happened. A pantload of pissed off DU'ers doing exactly what a pantload of Freepers did when before Hillary's book hit Amazon.

BTW, What's your favorite passage from The Federalist Papers?
Here's mine. It's from July 6th, 1798. The Alien Act - An Act Respecting Alien Enemies:

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That whenever there shall be a declared war between the United States and any foreign nation or government, or any invasion or predatory incursion shall be perpetrated, attempted, or threatened against the territory of the United States, by any foreign nation or government, and the President of the United States shall make public proclamation of the event, all natives, citizens, denizens, or subjects of the hostile nation or government, being males of the age of fourteen years and upwards, who shall be within the United States, and not actually naturalized, shall be liable to be apprehended, restrained, secured and removed, as alien enemies.

"BTW, What's your favorite passage from The Federalist Papers?"

From Federalist #10:
"The inference to which we are brought is that the CAUSES of faction cannot be removed, and that relief is only to be sought in the means of controlling its EFFECTS."
"If a faction consists of less than a majority, relief is supplied by the republican principle, which enables the majority to defeat its sinister views by regular vote. It may clog the administration, it may convulse the society; but it will be unable to execute and mask its violence under the forms of the constitution. When a majority is included in a faction, the form of popular government, on the other hand, enables it to sacrifice to its ruling passions both the public good and the rights of other citizens. To secure the public good and private rights against the danger of such a faction, and at the same time to preserve the spirit and the form of popular government, is then the great object to which our inquiries are directed. Let me add that it is the great desideratum by which alone this form of government can be rescued from the opprobrium under which it has so long labored and be recommended to the esteem and adoption of mankind."

From those who were looking for something a bit deeper than Ann Coulter, can I get an AMEN. I don't think that would be at all inappropriate considering the incredible insight and brilliance of our Founding Fathers, who had just as much politics then as we have now, but were able to rise above it and come up with a form of government that was all they said it was. It is truly the great object to which our inquiries are directed, and I see Ann as a betrayer of that heritage, and am not sympathetic to her.

Tyrannies, dictatorships, the iron fists are EASY. To address the evils of faction by a tripartite system and designing conflict and compromise into the very system itself, pitting government against government to keep it honest- that impresses me. And it is as valid today as it was the day it was formulated.

Don't take me as hostile, please- I just have a degree of reverence for the Constitution and the 'great experiment' that I suppose is a bit uncommon anymore. At least, it sure looks like I believe in it more than does Ann Coulter. She appears to be like 'we win, so we needn't bother with that foolishness anymore'. Our founders were wiser than that.

First thing is that Hillary's? book "Living Hysterically" has Amazon posted reviews starting about June 20th.

Mine was posted early Friday AM, June 27th.

There are 366 reviews of "Living Hysterically" as of 12:15am, SAT, June 27th, 2003.

You have to weed thru many "NEXT" pages to get to June 27th to see if my review shows up!

Impossible for 99% of Amazon readers; I found no short cuts available!

I posted as "Scott McLeod" on:

Some her on FR knock Annie's style and brutal candor.

You don't get anyone's attention whacking them with a 2x4.

Annie is like me; she uses a 4x4!

Results work.

Being a meek wallflower ain't gettin' it!

Annie has three (3) best sellers so far.

How many have all her critics got so far?

Low Profile = Low Profile

You only get to circle the field once in life.

Annie lands sucessfully every time.

Last talked to Annie last month on the Larry Elder Show.

Two of my favorite Conservatives.
"Faint heart never wins....."

In writing, politics, and winning a big audience, the meek inherit a book seller rating, popularity, and political viability of Al and Tipper Gore's book sales rankings.

I hadn't at all. I enjoy trading barbs at times on FR. In the same vein, don't take any reply I may make as hostile either. I may, at times, get caustic or sarcastic...but it is only because I like my Freeping the way I like my food; spicey and enjoyable. Life is too short to settle for boring food or conversation. I'm a bit of an epicurian in that regard.

We are in agreement in regards to the Constitution as well. I hold it very dear and actually feel a glow from within when I read the Preamble aloud. (An exercise that I like to spring on my fellow 4th of July revelers when I get the chance. I'll throw in the Declaration of Independence if I get a good response from the Preamble.)

Indeed, Ann Coulter does at times seem to be a bit of a harpy and also seems to be using her political leanings for considerable gain in the financial arena.

Personally, I am lukewarm to her writings, etc...
She doesn't contribute much that is new and lately seems to be doing nothing more than simply defending herself, when she's not attacking the Lefties for whatever reasons motivate her. Just my humble opinion.

Cheers.

"Incidentally, I prefer to read a book before I decide on whether it's good or bad."

LOL! If NAMBLA publishes a book, I'm not reading it unless it's for opposition purposes. Same with Hellery. Assumption is necessary more often than not in order to ever make any progress. Giving liberalism a chance should only last for a limited number of years of certain peoples' lives [not everyone's life, of course], IMHO-- preferably no more than three years. It's an important phase for people who want to understand things in depth, but making 'fairness to the leftwing viewpoint' a lifetime obligation is a waste of precious time.

You must be looking for the newest and latest in scandals and politics. Understandable. Perhaps I should track your posts. Venona isn't exactly a household word-- YET.

This book is historic. While it's all been said before, it hadn't been said Ann's way. She has draw power. She is brilliant the way she pieces things together. She's got the Big Mo on her side. God bless her. I'm glad she prospers.

Of course she defends her position. She is, after all, a lawyer. Defending your position is what it's all about.

Although its fiction, it portrays most, if not all, of the characteristics in Ann's book that are bringing us down as a Republic and where they ultimately lead...and therefore is a good match

Indeed, and her descriptive study of the Alger Hiss and Senator Joe McCarthy stories of the late 1940s and early 1950s neatly and precisely sets the foundation for the development of the events you describe. The two books really do go rather nicely together.

By the end of next month, Amazon will be will pay shipping and and give you $10 to take the book off their hands.

Taking $10 from them for "Lying History" might be worth it. One never knows when there could be a toilet paper shortage.

Looks like all the freeping did it. Here's the email I received from Amazon yesterday.

Hello, Your recent e-mail message regarding recommendations on the Amazon.com website has been brought to the attention of the Communities Team. I apologize for the incorrect information provided in our response. (see post 151) The recommendations referred to in your message were posted by customers through the Our Customer's Advice feature.

Upon investigating the recommendations that you have brought to our attention, I have determined that they are outside our guidelines. As such is the case, they has been slated for removal from the website and should disappear within the next few business days.

The "Our Customers' Advice" feature was implemented as a way for customers to make recommendations on items that they believe would be of interest to other customers. Over time, we believe that the quality of the recommendations will improve as more customers express their opinions.

We do appreciate your feedback on this feature and will be sure to pass your comments on to the program developers. I am sure that they will be interested to read your comments and will take them into consideration as they continue their evaluation of this program.

Again, thank you for taking the time to write and for your interest in Amazon.com.

Best regards,
