A Leftist perspective on American sovereignty.

I recently found this on louisvillepeace.org (not linked intentionally). This "Declaration of INTERdependence" was published by one of the prominent "peace" activists of Louisville, KY. In this gross distortion of our Republic's true Declaration of Independence you can clearly see the goal of the Left is the dismantling of independent, sovereign nations including the United States. When you read it you'll probably be as mad as I was the first time I read it...

THE DECLARATION OF INTERDEPENDENCE

July 4, 2003

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for all peoples of the World to band together to prevent war among nations and to act in wholeness toward the Earth, and to assume among the species of the Earth the rightful station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of humankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the Unity.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all people are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness -- That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among People, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, -- That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

The history of Independent National Sovereignty is a history of repeated wars, environmental destructions, and transgressions of individual liberties. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.

It has caused the deliberate and unconscionable perpetration of hatred among the diverse peoples of the Earth.

It has caused the deliberate and unconscionable death of hundreds of millions of men and women in military service.

It has caused the incidental and unconscionable death of hundreds of millions of civilian men, women, and children in times of war.

It has caused injury, starvation, poverty, and homelessness to billions of men, women, and children in times of war.

It has caused the destruction of family life for billions of human beings.

It has caused the depletion of the treasuries of the various nations in the maintenance of large standing armies at the expense of social and humanitarian need.

It has distorted the proper social development of billions of young people by quartering them in isolated camps and training them to kill and be killed in the name of nationality.

It has caused the neglect of the world’s environment.

It has divided nation against nation in the global care of forests, oceans, and the atmosphere.

It has caused rampant misuse and depletion of the Earth’s resources by allowing artificially low world prices in nations without proper environmental legislation.

It has caused loss of vocation among laborers in developed countries and exploitation of labor in underdeveloped countries by allowing artificially low labor prices in nations without just and appropriate labor laws.

It has allowed the torture and death of innumerable human individuals by denying them the protection of international standards of justice.

It has allowed the growth of international terrorism by depriving the world of a just and uniform system of law enforcement.

It has allowed the proliferation of nuclear weapons by attempting to justify their possession by some nations and not by others, and by failing to control trade of fissile material.

We, therefore, the good Peoples of this Earth, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, declare that it is our right, it is our duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for our future security. We acknowledge the historic significance and past propriety of the independent nation-state, but affirm in the present age the intercontinental dimension of communications, commerce, and weaponry, and assert that no nation may continue to exist, in spirit or in practice, as a separate part of the Earth or of the Earth’s people. We do, therefore, solemnly publish and declare, That all human beings are, and of Right ought to be, Free and Interdependent, and that they are Absolved from all allegiance to the divisions of humankind. We further declare that, as the united peoples of the World, we have full Power to Wage Peace, repress War, Illegalize weapons of mass destruction, Regulate the manufacture and trade of all other weapons of military use, Create just and democratic systems of international justice and law enforcement, Establish uniform laws of Labor and Commerce, Tend and care for the lands, seas, and air of the Planet, Preserve undeveloped spaces for non-human species, Regulate resource extraction, Protect the planetary environment, and to do all other Acts and Things which a united and democratic humanity may of right do. And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.

It doesn't make me mad, it makes me want to laugh and cry at the same time. I wanna laugh because it's so utterly ignorant and just plain wrong and I can't believe this person lived this long without killing himself in a common household accident. I wanna cry because there are other pea-brains in this country who believe it.

...and I've always thought of Kentucky as such a beautiful state!

I don't understand their logic. One worldwide government means one world wide leader. Why would they willingly give that much power to one man? Every time I hear rumors of Bill Clinton wanting to run the U.N. or NATO, the hair on the back of my neck stands up.

Hard to believe, but this exact same kind of sappiness had its followers when I was in college...almost fifty years ago. Internationalist utopians, dreaming of world peace. Bah!

They are truly caught in a cycle, doomed to repeat the same mistaken notion -- over and over and over.

I don't think Mr. Avery quite grasps what the Declaration was really all about. The part about "our lives, our fortunes, our sacred honor," for example. This sort of utopian inanity is nothing new and is notable principally for its utter superficiality, being reducable to "wouldn't it be wonderful if everybody lived under one government and had just the same amount of wealth?" No, in fact, it wouldn't. Nor, inasmuch as it would inherently involve theft and murder, would it deserve to.

Mr Avery thinks maybe that smart armed Americans may actually be persuaded by his syrupy utopian rhethoric to yield without a fight the greatest nation ever seen, the world's only "hyper"power. Just leave the Bill of Rights for collectivist assurances from the likes of China, Africa, Korea. Here's to hoping he's not an engineering or medical student.
