Mr. Cruse, I can not believe you and I are in agreement!
I have not seen Cruising but I know that it has a strange reputation in the gay community (as you know I live in SF). One theatre here (an indie theater) decided to show it in the 90's and there was a public outcry from the gay community who tried to shut it down saying that it did not represent them appropriately and led to negative stereotyping.
But yes I agree with you.
Jeffrey Dahmer was gay and closeted, and Adolph Hitler was supposedly a gay hustler in his youth...the whole fixation on blonde young boys (Hitler Youth)....etc, and the relationship with Eva Braun (not consumated supposedly). But then there was the incestuous rape he did of his female cousin. I suppose he was a bisexual psychopath.

Cruising was a worrisome movie, alright. I may be mistaken, but I believe it was based on a real life story. And the police officer who infiltrated the gay-biker scene almost joined it.

Yup....but a reaction against what should be kept to oneself being foisted on the general public. The entire cabaret scene was that. Kurt Tucholsky thought he was so cute and smart but it wasn't long until he fled for his life and killed himself. The world would have been better off ifKurt and his boys never existed.

Yeah, the Bravo cable channel which was an arts channel has become the homosexual network with reality programming aimed at homosexuals (dating shows).
There have been threads on their new program offerings for a couple months now (I don't know good search terms to find the threads).
There is also the marketing teams working to feminize men. This week they are calling the men who buy into this "metrosexuals". There was a fashion show last year (early this year?) that tried to sell the idea of breast falsies for "straight" men (I think in Australia or Europe).
There have also been the attempts at selling makeup to men (facial and nail polish).
So far none of these "trends" seems to have been profitable yet those who push their agenda keep floating out these ideas.

Good thing I dumped the telly and stopped watching years ago. Bravo used to have great programs on it...John Cassavettes film festivals...great indie film stuff like Trust by Hal Hartley!!
Ahhh, the world has become so much more liberal since then that the good films aren't even indie anymore as gays have hijacked that.
Best films last year were LOTR and Harry Potter!
To: I_Love_My_Husband
Even Hal Hartley's movies aren't what they once were (I've seen most of them, his last two have been more "fantasy" involved, one about an ogre and the other about the second coming).
A music/video store nearby has opted to stock more obscure titles on DVD (since they are far cheaper rental titles than VHS, a DVD costs $10-40 while a videotape costs $50-120). I've been able to rent his recent films there.
I've also gotten around the Hollywood "art film" circuit by buying films on DVD from around the world (I have a multistandard player). Titles from Hong Kong are cheap ($6-12 with most around $8). They have HK films, Korean, Japanese, European, and some bigger American films.
I also buy some older imported movies (1950s and 1960s).
Hollywood may eventually import some of these movies in 5 or 10 years but they have butchered Jet Li and Jackie Chan's movies and have given lousy theatrical distribution to Miyazaki's films (I've only ever actually seen one of his movies but the new one looked to have some good visual style).

She said it remains to be seen why the group threatened him. When society demands that homos pay tax on jars of vaseline, what do you expect?

What do they put on milk cartons in San Francisco?
Pictures of the backs of heads of missing homos.

Would someone answer a simple question, please? What the hell does PRIDE have to do with any of this nonsense? I don't understand what there is to be proud of. I'm not being facetious here. Thanx.

IMHO, Trust is the only great HH film. The rest are terrible!
To: szweig
I don't think we freepers can answer the question.
Something about being proud to be out of the closet and gay (and like DennisW says it used to be "the love that dare not speak it's name to the thing they don't shut the F up about!").
I'm paraphrasing as DennisW says it so much better.

These swishy perverts have taken the word SHAME out and substituted the word PRIDE in its' place. It's an IN YOUR FACE tactic by the Gays and Gay Activists, IMHO.
Bumping this to Grampa Dave in case he would care to give us his 2 cents or dollar-and-a-half, whichever . . .
