The balance between pro-choice women and women who say abortion should be outlawed or severely restricted is shifting toward the pro-life side, bumping that group into the majority in the debate over reproductive rights, according to a new national poll.

Ever since I heard of this new technology, I've maintained that it is the Stealth Bomber that is going to zoom in under the pro-death crowd's radar and nuke them... once a woman sees what is really in her womb, it ceases to be a "tissue mass" and becomes... a baby. Her baby.

This has been evident for some time. The intellectual establishment and leaders of opinion overwhelmingly favor abortion. The average person, even after 30 years of pro-abortion propaganda, disagrees.
I wish the Republicans would start undertanding this. They are missing the chance of speaking more openly on life issues. The party is generally pro-life, while the Democrats are pro-abortion; but there's a big difference in the way they address the matter. Democrats scream their views at the top of their lungs; most Republicans try to keep them as quiet as possible, with a few honorable exceptions.
Republicans would do very well if they spoke more openly. Among other things, they could destroy the Democrats' argument that they are the moral party, the party of the underdog, while the Republicans are only selfish money-grubbers. Just the opposite is plainly true. The Democrats are the party of immorality, corruption, and selfishness, and nothing makes the point better than their eagerness to kill babies in order to improve their "lifestyles."

Dear Cicero,
"This has been evident for some time. The intellectual establishment and leaders of opinion overwhelmingly favor abortion. The average person, even after 30 years of pro-abortion propaganda, disagrees."
As this study, commissed by the pro-death crowd, shows, not only has 30 years of propaganda not succeeded in minimizing those who stand for life, BUT THE WELL-FINANCED PRO-DEATH PROPAGANDISTS ARE LOSING GROUND!
Fr. Richard Neuhaus, the editor of First Things, has said that the pro-life movement is about the future, and the pro-death crowd is about the past. As pointed out in one of the articles linked by backhoe, when women see their unborn children in utero, it becomes nearly impossible to procure their death.
As this technology becomes increasingly commonplace, the pro-death crowd will find it increasingly difficult to defend its endorsement of in utero baby-killing.

I think one of the Justices who overturns Roe should be a woman. That way the press can't say it was a bunch of men in robes taking "rights away from women."

At last! and thank God! Even after 30+ yrs of bombardment by the pro death media and abortion mills, commonsense is returning!! And, thanks in part, to the new technology like the mall ultrasounds!

Well, not so huge. Faye Waddleton was on C-Span yesterday explaining why poor pitiful, misinformed and misguided women poll more pro-life than ever. It's not their fault, most of them are too young to remember the bad ole days before Roe V Wade, the days of backstreet and self-induced abortions.
Just like the left! Rather than admit they are losing the debate, that perhaps they should reconsider their position, they accuse everyone else of being too ignorant to form a valid opinion. Grrrrrr

Dear YaYa123,
Sure it's huge. Whatever Faye has to say, it doesn't really matter.
There was a great graph in the written version of the article in the Washington Times. It showed that:
- 30% of women favor the current legal regime of essentially abortion on demand;
- 17% of women favor a complete ban on abortion;
- 34% favor a ban with the exceptions of rape, incest, and life of the mother.
That's where you get your 51%.
But, another 17% favor laws more restrictive than they are now, though not quite a nearly-complete ban.
Thus, 68% of women favor abortion laws more restrictive than they are now.
Not huge?

I know what you mean, and I'm thrilled with the results, (which were done by Princeton poll, I think), so Waddleton couldn't deny them. But look where this gets serious coverage, The Washington Times.
When Tim Russert, Chris Mathews, the NYTIMES, Newsweek and Time admit and and cover significantly, that American women are predominantly pro-life, sadly, I don't consider it "huge".

I agree. However, I note that ALL the Justices at the time of Roe v. Wade were men. It would be fitting if a woman Justice were to be among the ones who give women their rights back.

Exactly. They pull the victime routine. Of course when it comes to waiting periods and pre-abortion counseling, the tune is that women are smart enough to make their own decisions and have already thought things through thoroughly before seeking an abortion.

Great News! Now watch the tides of politics slowly move over to our side since it's all about votes and keeping their jobs. Once the poll is over the apex of 50% and they see that more Americans are turing pro life, they too, will slowly change.

Fifty-one percent of women surveyed by the Center for the Advancement of Women said the government should prohibit abortion or limit it to extreme cases, such as rape, incest, or life-threatening complications.Great news. The end to Roe v Wade couldn't come too soon for me.
Thanks for the PING and Happy Fourth of July!
