[history]
SACRAMENTO - As the slightly wacky anti-tax warrior of California politics, Ted Costa has played the bad boy of Sacramento politics for two decades, relatively unknown and swiping from the sidelines of power as he tried to thwart tax-and-spend politicians.
Today, Costa has come in from the fringe.

I like this guy.

He's wacky. He's not mainstream Republican. He's not mainstream Democrat. Even John Doerr is against him! The Mercury heralds the coming talking-points attack: the recall is a throwback to the "fringe politics" that begat Prop 13 and kicked out Rose Bird. Divide and conquer.

As the slightly wacky anti-tax warrior of California politics Yeah. I mean how "wacky" can you get? Thinking that money actually belongs to the people that earn it and that government should spend tax money responsibley? What a loon!! (/sarcasm)

Read this excerpt, intact, from roughly the middle of this column:
``Mainstream Republicans think Ted's a little wacky because he marches to his own drummer,'' said an observer who has written about Sacramento for years. ``His thing is tax reform, but they all think he's a pain in the rear.''
Lobbyist Lenny Goldberg wasn't quite as diplomatic.
``He's a right-wing nut case,'' he said. ``I remember him leaning over a table once and telling me, `Don't you think in a few years we'll be out there in the hills all struggling to survive?' He had this apocalyptic view of the world.''
The author of this column, Patrick May, is one sneaky Democrat pissant, ain't he?
Notice how he segues from a blurb about "mainstream Republicans" to a quote from the more-taxes lobbyist/scumbag Lenny Goldberg, a left-wing extremist who is a leader of the effort to derail Proposition 13, and who May fails to properly identify as such?
I should know by now not to expect better from the Murk.

OK,, I feel better!

There's a guy that's keeping all the threads on the anti-Repub rhetoric. Forgot his name.
This one should be:
Republicans perceived as wacky anti-tax guys

Republicans seen as wacky anti-tax rebels
