A certain amount of ugly americanism is expected and necessary when we travel abroad. When we go to these hellholes acting like sensitive, panty-waist, continental-wannabee, eurofag, one-world, socialist, liberal idiots, the sharpies take us to the cleaners. I like the caption from that classic old t-shirt that used to be popular in these parts:

I've done a lot of traveling abroad and I'm always proud of the behavior of my fellow Americans. Nobody anywhere is more enthusiastic, curious, eager to see stuff and experience stuff than American tourists. I don't think any ugly Americanism is necessary at all because everywhere I've been -- Europe, Polynesia, Thailand, Morocco -- Americans as individuals are embraced no matter what anybody thinks of the actions of our government. And I've never seen Americans in Europe blaming European individuals for the behavior of their governments. I'm curious what "hellholes" you were talking about.

Maybe this idiotic t-shirt is supposed to keep them safe. Remember, these people are of the mentality of 'all we need is dialog to solve these problems'. This is also consistent with the Senator Patty Murray position that Bin Laden is really the good guy in this fight.
I,personally, am grateful when the enemies of America, and their useful idiots, are willing to wear identifying clothing. I do think the t-shirt would look better with a matching turban.
