That's when I started understanding Rick Santorum. Lawrence was a classic case of stealth politics. But what the public didn't know, was that the activists had USSC justices in their pockets.
As usual the Wall Street Journal editorial page was more than a decade ahead of society in recognizing the trend. Unfortunately the only part of their prediction that was incorrect was that it would be justices appointed by Republican presidents that would do it.

I wasn't aware that the WSJ was so prescient re gay marriage. I've read so many wrongheaded, open borders editorials in it, that I'd become jaded toward that particular paper.
