I think his solo segments are highly entertaining and usually rightI agree. His caller segments are annoying to me, but when he does his rambling commentary, it can get pretty funny. He just says whatever he wants, and has to stop and laugh at his own comments sometimes.

Weiner himself has admitted it on his show that the reason he rarely debates with the callers is that he wants to create a "safe haven" for his listeners/viewers where they don't have to be exposed to liberal crap. I didn't know that. Who needs a safe haven? I want the world be safe for freedom again. I WANT to hear what the leftists have to say. I WANT to know what they plan to do. I don't want to have someone wrap me in cotton and chew my food for me.
This attitude is rather patronizing and also the reason that he cuts people off so readily.
Agree. And I got tired of hearing, "You don't know this, but..." or "You'll only hear this from me. I'm the only talk show host with this issue" - a day or two after we've put up 300 posts on FR on the same subject.
That is a major reason I don't listen. I want to hear more than the surface of an issue, and I don't want to hear him take credit for something that's been posted here first. We deserve a lot better than that.

This remembrance by you of Nina Totenburg's outrageous and unpunished comment is one of many that needs to be illuminated.
The Adrian Marveaux (sp?) wish that Mrs. Clarence Thomas should feed her husband foods that would shorten his life is another unpoliced, unpunished, even unadmonished by the Left.
The Right always tends to clean house (Trent Lott by us, Savage by THEM but with most of us agreeing with THEM) for questionable and unsavory comments.
Who on the Left has been removed by US and our actions agreed to by THEM? ZIP, right?
The Left seems inacapable of being embarrassed, but that is clearly not so the Right. I surmise that for us that is both good (ability to be embarrassed) and bad (not having the courage to fight it through to get a sincere Savage apology and stick by him to foster his good side.)
I'm sorry I've been absent for most of this controversy. Now I'm afraid almost nobody will react to my assessment which I think is an important one (perhaps not even you). If I'm wrong in my observation or unclear, I'd like to know what or how. Who will answer?

The timing of the Savage flap is interesting. It was shortly after his dispute not just with KSFO -- but with ABC and corporate Disney -- went public, and he responded by attacking gay radicals and the Supreme Court's Lawrence decision on the air, saying he would no longer be intimidated from attacking gays on his show. I suspect Disney had him set up.

I don't see why Savage on the right or Malveaux and Totenberg on the left should be removed from the airways. Doesn't freedom of speech mean that people CAN say crude hurtful "hateful" things without being shut up? Niether Savage's, Malveaux's or Totenberg's statements were incitements to do physical harm. Short of that it should be anything goes.

Doesn't freedom of speech mean that people CAN say crude hurtful "hateful" things without being shut up?Freedom of speech means you can say what you want (short of libel or slander) and the government is prohibited by the First Amendment from stopping you. It doesn't prohibit a private entity from throwing you off it's privately owned broadcast facilities, or from you, for instance, from throwing someone out of your house for what they say. It also means that there are consequences - people angry that Savage has been fired from MSNBC are free to boycot MSNBC, and all of their corporate sponsors.

Disney would be smart to have set him up. Would definitely impact Savage's market value.
But I say it went down the way reported. Just some ultra-lib without a life making phone calls designed to make the host get crazy.
