I can't imagine a normal five year old being unable to get out of a car.

When I was four, I unlocked the car door and opened it. While the car was on the freeway.

My grandmother instantly reached over with one hand, yanked me over the back seat and into the front, and gave me a serious spanking.

She left the kids in the truck ON PURPOSE. Left them there for her husband to PICK UP> Used the car as a temporary play pen. (holding pen)

Also; the five year old, if in his car seat, probably couldnt unfasten the seat belt. If tight, they can be difficult for an adult to unfasten.
