I seriously doubt the veracity of this. No way W takes this much of a chance with a potential leak. Plus we have a story in CHB that was recently discredited. Sounds like this source is getting around. Probably some ex-Clintonite stirring the pot a little. Would surprise me if this went all the way up to Terry M.

They (CNN) essentially just did what they are accusing Bush of doing...reporting a story they should've known was false. And they still can't get this story right as Bush only repeated what the British government "did" say. This wasn't a lie...and the British government is still standing by it (or has that now changed). I just can't believe we are still arguing over this.

The liberal media is on the war path

Exactly. The dems have no cohesive message, can't compete on the issues, so they try personal attacks...

How long before they try saying, "like father like son", as in, lack of integrity- Bush 41 with the no new taxes pledge, Bush with the Iraq war...

Where's Rush when you need him (Hedgecock will be on tomorrow). Any time this kind of stuff worries us, Rush is great at showing positive perspecives...

Its beginning to unravel for Bush and the others who to put it politely tried toi deceive the American public. Wathc the polls in the next few weeks. Even O-Reilly said today the administration needs to be forthcoming, quotes and FNC reporter as saying this is the most secretive administrayion ever and warns Bush's re-election could be in trouble with all the info coming out and the growing conflict in Iraq.

I doubt the Communist backed freaks at antiwar.com or the smarmy liberal press will have any more success with this smear attempt then they did with trying to say "Bush Knew" before 9/11

Good try though

How do you figure we were deceived? And if so, what was the purpose for the deceit? Oil? Then why are gas prices up? Revenge for daddy? No way the brass goes along with this.

“The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa,” Mr. Bush said.

The statement was technically correct, since it accurately reflected the British paper...

Wrong, they got this entirely backward. The statemnt was technically incorrect because the British government was only lead to beleive something that turned out to be false--which is different then something that is learned; but the critism that follows:

But the bottom line is the White House knowingly included in a presidential address information its own CIA had explicitly warned might not be true.

What a spiteful little exageration: the real bottom line is that some folks in the CIA though it might not be true, but some folks in the British intellegence felt sure it was, in which case the statement is perfectly reasonble. But it is nothing compared to the daming implication of the headline that the content fails to deliver on:

Bush Knew Iraq Info was False

That the headline is not only technicaly false, but appears to be open slander.

You are correct, The Brits have cleared Tony Blair of any deliberate misuse of the intel he had on the Iraq/African Uranium issue, but I guess the brain dead liberal over here havn't figured out yet that George W. Bush and Tony Blair relied on the same intel.

My guess is that don't want to believe it. they just want to play the smear game as long as they can.

That website was founded in opposition to Clinton and his foolish war in Kosovo. The real communists are the "former" Trotsky loving neocons who have betrayed the American Founding and the Constitution. No one thought, when it broke, that Watergate would bring Nixon down. An administration, Republican or Democrat, that may have lied us into a war is much more serious.

Naa, that's not an impeachable offense.

Being lied to and reporting it is not impeachable. Lying while pounding your fist and lying in court under oath and ordering your subordinates to lie for you are.

It's amazing how the media jumps all over this hoping it's as big as "No new taxes." is setting themselves up. If the President gets bad information and puts it on the air, (kind of like what they do) we should blame someone like.....

THE PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE!!!!

Do you really think the people who know ALL the reasons why we went are going to buy this one thing being not wrong but off a little?

Of course, what "objections from the CIA" and "CIA officials warned" mean is that some CIA analysts discounted the story. There has never been an intelligence analysis on which all the analysts agreed, so technically every government which has ever used intelligence reports has been "explicitly warned" that some of the information might not be true.

Somehow I don't believe that the "warning" involved George Tenent kneeling in supplication and crying out through his tears: "Don't say it, Mr. President, please don't say it!" which is what this is being spun to sound like.

Of course, when Bush followed CIA intelligence analysis and started the Iraq war early, that was wrong too. The quality of CIA information lately has been such that the President could probably do just as well by flipping its reports randomly into "Accept" and "Reject" piles.

At the moment, I don't think people in this country are in much of a mood for this sort of backbiting. If the economy tanks before the election, that might put 'em in the mood, but otherwise, this stuff is going to be like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

HAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAH.

You guys at antiwar are priceless. Please stay around in a zoo so we can show our kids what illogical people look like.

In fact, every claim Bush made about Iraq is true, and worse. No mention, by the way, the the FRENCH had slipped fraudulent intel data to us trying to make us use bad stuff.

In my mind, we have more than found the WMDs (the trailers, the ricin in the Tigris, the gas masks, the drums). End of story.

We have more than found links to AQ. End of story.

But by all means, you guys at antiwar just keep it up, because you get pushed more out of the mainstream with every stupid post.
