OMG, the MSNBC "debate" just aired and the host is that Sam Something. Rich Galen for the Republicans and Schmuckler (or something--I've seen him before) for the dems.

Galen got rattled because he was barely allowed to make his statements with the host jumping all over him. This Sam totally misrepresented what the CIA and Condi Rice have said. As I say, Galen got rattled under this barrage coming not only from the expected dem opponent but this host.

The media smells blood. The Republicans better get the facts marshalled and not get sidetracked.

If you do a GOOGLE search on "Ambassador Joseph Wilson" there are quite a few interviews of him that occur after the SOTU speech and nowhere does he mention anything about his all important mission in Niger, I posted a bunch of them last night, including a detailed bio on him.

Thanks. I will look for that.

I am livid about the media onslaught today.

The real kind of livid--not the fake Janet Reno kind.

I am livid, too - steaming mad!
I've been running errands, and listening to the car radio. Unfortunately, the station that carries Rush also carries ABC Radio News - and it is horrible.
I just heard some so-called expert declaim that President Bush must do something to stop the bleeding in his approval ratings!
What bleeding? Has ABC done some secret overnight poll of morons?

What I gotta wonder about is why a Freeper would adopt the disrespectful language of the left -- use the term "Bushies" -- during time of war.

I didn't know the left had a copywrite on the term. In any case I don't consider it derogatory. If I had heard it 12 1/2 years ago in time of war while stationed in the Gulf and serving in the 2ACR, 3rd Squadron, Lighting Troop, I wouldn't have taken it amiss.

...thus President Bush did not come in and remove all Clinton appointees.

At the time this would have been impracticable. But my gripe is not that he didn't remove Klintler's people then, it's that he's promoting them now, post 9/11.

Here is my take:

We had some info of Saddam's interest in Uranium in Africa, but not everything we needed to make a case. The UK's MI6 had intercepted 3 phone converstaions between high ranking Iraqi officials and 3 African Countries trying to obtain yellow cake uranium.

From what I have read, Italy is where the forged document came from, it was given to the State Department and somehow got incorperated into a State Dept. report to the U.N., (probably by a Clinton holdover). Meanwhile all this Intel was gathered for the Presidents SOTU address in order to draft a SOTU speech.

A draft was circulated among the high level agencies for review and in that draft was a sentence that sourced that suspect document. George Tenet said that he couldn't sign off on the document they got from Italy and suggested that sentenced be changed.

On assurances that the intel obtained by the MI6 on Iraq's desire to purchase Uranium from these three countries, a modified sentence was used and accepted by all.

All this stuff about the forged document was uncovered before the war started in Iraq. So this is why I think it wasn't brought up, It was just one document of thousands, and after modifying the sentence it wasn't an issue to anyone in the loop.

Here is what I think this is all about. I am starting to believe that this administration released the statement on the forged document to the NYT's and the Wash Post knowing full well that the democrats would smell blood and launch an all out blitz, meanwhile there is evidence of Saddam's weapons programs and his efforts to conceal them ready to be announced next week when Tony Blair and George W. Bush hold their joint press conference. In the end, George W. Bush comes clean about the forged document and the democrats claims of Qugmire, no WMD's, No plans to win the peace, Saddam isn't a threat have ceased, they have been out foxed again.
