"Given the socialist and commies STILL infesting the state department, McCarthy is still right."

Having been an adult throught that entire period I followed it all the way.

He was not only right i've always considered him an american hero for doing what he did.

When the media accuses someone of telling a lie, it means that the one they accuse of lying is telling the truth.

Calling " TREASON " revisionistic history, is more of a distortion and pot calling a kettle, than just about anything I've seen in a rather long time.

McGovern wasn't mentioned as a " war hero " for a VERY good reason. Some " reporters " are far too stupid, inacurate, and fairy tale telling hacks, to be allowed anywhere near a typewriter/pen/computer.

Because the LEFT went after and still goes after J.Edgar and Nixon, for no reason at all, other than the fact that both were anti-Commies and worked hard to expose those in governemnt at all levels. The author is just proving this fact, when it didn't need to be mentioned. Some people are just too stupid for their own good...such as this bloviator.

McCarthyism means making reckless accusations and public smears without real evidence.
Sort of like THIS diatribe, right?
Perhaps we should RE-name it "AZ Republic-ism."
Here is an idea for you AZ Republic maroons:
Why not READ Ann's book before commenting on it?
It is obvious from this rant that they have NOT.

Being on the left side of an animal or vehicle: pulling hard on the nigh rein.
Being the animal or vehicle on the left: the nigh horse.

And the other horse is the off horse.

Hence the old saying "I don't know him from Adam's off ox."

As a Phoenician, I can report to all that the Arizona Republic is a lost cause. After Gannett took it over, the PC culture was ushered in in its full flamboyant fury.

It appears evident from the "rant" that the editorial staff either hasn't read the book or is now ideologically bent beyond willingness to consider facts undermining their reality.

I've got to think that in a state like Arizona a conservative paper would do pretty well. The Tribune isn't conservative (at least it wasn't back when I used to get it about 5 years ago) . . . meaning the state's major newspapers are all increasingly tilting left of center. Surely Fox has shown that the market will respond if someone makes it.

Just keep on posting facts and links. Maybe, MAYBE, the blinkered, blind, and deaf will finally get it.

The LEFT has ALWAYS been guilty of that and escape major scrutiny, by blaming others/tarring them with what they do.

To bad he became an alcoholic.

Well, maybe he shouldn't have been hanging out with the Kennedy's so much then.

The leftists are going to have a hard time disproving her facts.

The leftists don't deal in factual discussions. They've found they get much further with the politics of personal destruction. A lie goes halfway around the world before the truth can get its boots on.

"She backs up all facts with 46 pages of notes. The leftists are going to have a hard time disproving her facts."

Unfortunately, the disproving of her facts isn't a goal of their's. They'll keep on with the personal attacks instead, whether those attacks are on McCarthy or on Coulter. I don't think many of them are bothering to read the book anyway.

"There were plenty of implacable anti-communists among Democrats of the era: Scoop Jackson, Hubert Humphrey and John Kennedy, to name three contemporaries."

How can the nitwits at the Arizona Republic say this? I heard Hubert Humphrey say, one time, that he was a proud, card-carrying member of CPUSA. Doesn't sound much like an anti-communist to me.

Now, he was all pissy about some other issue at the time he said it, but he said it none the less.

Then the media is McCarthyisming all over the place right now over Bush's SOTU address. I feel much better now, thanks.

Not at all, precisely the opposite! What we're seeing is the same so-called liberals "freezing" a particular piece of minutae and broadcasting it at an amplified level across all the forms of media that they control. Can you say "propaganda" ? When one controls the terms of the debate, it's easy to get the outcome they desire. It's transparent as hell, but never underestimate the gullibility of the american people. Thankfully, this kind of manipulation is played out, and the american people aren't buying it. This might sound strange to some, but I'm praying for the Democratic party.

I forgot ... what's the difference between liberals and communism ?

Something we all should consider is the founding fathers did not escape tyranny to perpetutae another ... we were founded upon God AND religious liberty and defending it is our obligation --- liberals have made God and right and wrong a thought crime and themselves our overlords - us slaves!

Watch those senate confirmation hearings and if you publicly state your beliefs and sincerity you are vetted - crucified ... there is supposed to be no religious - ideological special interest test ot PLEDGE for office and now the supreme court has established them ... abortion - pornography - evolution - gun control - racial - sexual preferences especially !

"She characterizes dissent and disagreement as treason."
No, she defines treason as treason. The writer, OTOH, defines treason as mere "dissent."
