I use the word ''sodomy,'' incidentally, mainly because I still can. I would wager that one of the consequences of the Supreme Court decision striking down sodomy laws will be that they've also struck down the word.

That day is coming. Michael Savage was chastized in part for calling a prank caller a sodomite after he "confirmed" that he was a homosexual (he was not).

I work at a major daily newspaper in the Midwest. If I referred to a sodomite - even in a non-disparaging way - as what he/she is, a sodomite, I think I would be fired. Such is the USA in 2003. At work, I refer to them as homosexuals. I refuse to call them "gay."

The way I heard it, Savage was chastized because he said he wished the guy would die of AIDS. Big difference.
