Bronko Nagurski... what a perfect name for a football player.
I hope Walter Payton is added. In my opinion, the greatest all-around player in NFL history.

What the bloody hell is a "football hero". Is this country gotten so corupt that our military, some getting killed daily, are not seen as heros and worthy of a postage stamp? Not one dang thing that a football player does makes a hero!

Nice money making scheme for the US Post Office. Many people will buy vast quantities of stamps commemorating sports and movie stars, that wouldn't give a hoot in Hell about historical or geographical stamps.

Is this country gotten so corrupt Yes, but a few years ago no one would have thought twice about what kind of Orwellian heros we choose. Now, at least a few here and there wonder at the state of our culture. Perhaps a young, competent philosopher is preparing to emerge and show us what we have become and where we ought to be instead. In the footsteps of Marcuse, maybe. Or maybe we have earned shrill Hillary and we'll never achieve our true human destiny.

Even though he's annoying as hell, Joe Theisman has the best football name of the recent era.
