People think it's nearly the end of time
Cause we're together and we've drawn the line
Our flag is up, the stock markets down
But we're all united from the country to the town

We live back in the woods you see
Big city problems never bothered me
But the world has changed and so have I
And America can survive
America will survive

We can plow our fields all day long
We can catch catfish from dusk till dawn
Yea we have toughed it out a time or two
Ain't to many things these boys and girls can't do
We grow good ole tomatoes, we got hometown pride
And America can survive
America will survive.

Cause you can't scare us out and you make us run
Cause were them old boys that have freedom and fun
We say grace and we say ma'am
If they don't like that, we don't give a damn
We came from the West Virginia coal mines
The Rocky Mountains and the big city skylines
We can hit back and we're gonna' be fine
Cause this country can survive
America will survive

I had a good friend in New York City
Never called me by my name, just hillbilly
My grandpa taught me how to live off the land
And his taught him to be a good businessman
He used to send me pictures of the Broadway nights
I'd send him some of granddaddy Williams homemade muscadine wine
He was lost like so many in the terrible strife
we're all asking God, why oh why
A tooth for a tooth and an eye for an eye
That's an old slogan we're gonna' revive
Because America can survive
America will survive

Cause you can't scare us out, and you can't make us run
we're them boys and girls with freedom and fun
We say grace and we say ma'am
If they don't like that, we give less than a damn
We're from North California and South Alabam'
And all they've done is unite this whole land
There's no more Yankees and Rebels this time
But one united people that stand behind
America can survive
America will survive

That's understandable.

You'd be amazed to know that the Delaware station is a Clear Channel station (speaking of conglomerates)

I live on the eastern shore of Virginia now and the local stations (locally owned and operated) play "Angry American" on a regular basis and I have yet to hear a Ditzy chicks tune (though I will admit I did like their tune "Earls Got to Die")

This is an excellent reference thread.
Here's another good one (and one of my favorites), by Aaron Tippin:

Well if you ask me where I come from.
Here's what I tell everyone.
I was born by God's dear grace.
In an extraordinary place.
Where the stars and stripes and the eagle fly.
It's a big 'ol land with countless dreams.
Happiness ain't out of reach.
Hard work pays off the way it should.
Yeah, I've seen enough to know that we've got it good.
Where the stars and stripes and the eagle fly.
There's a lady that stands in a harbor.
For what we believe.
And there's a bell that still echoes.
The price that it cost to be free.
I pledge allegiance to this flag.
And if that bothers you, well that's too bad.
But if you got pride and you're proud you do.
Hey, we could use some more like me and you.
Where the stars and stripes and the eagle fly.
Yes there's a lady that stands in a harbor.
For what we believe.
And there's a bell that still echoes.
The price that it cost to be free.
No, it ain't the only place on earth.
But it's the only place that I prefer.
To love my wife and raise my kids.
Hey, the same way that my daddy did.
Where the stars and stripes and the eagle fly.
Where the stars and stripes and the eagle... fly.
Where the stars and stripes and the eagle fly

I couldn't believe my luck when Toby Keith decided to play a concert at the PNC Art Center in Joisey. I have yet to hear him on the radio up here. Tickets go on sale Saturday.

I wonder when they'll record their version of 'Dixie?'

Billt Ray Cyrus This is an EXCELLENT song
I knew a man called him Sandy Kane
Few folks even knew his name
But a hero was he
Left a boy, came back a man
Still many just don't understand
About the reasons we are free

I can't forget the look in his eyes
Or the tears he cries
As he said these words to me

All gave some and some gave all
And some stood through for the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties and recall
Some gave all

Now Sandy Kane is no longer here
But his words are oh so clear
As they echo through out our land
For all his friends who gave us all
Who stood the ground and took the fall
To help their fellow man

Love your country and live with pride
And don't forget those who died America can't you see

All gave some and some gave all
And some stood through for the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties and recall
Some gave all

And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties and recall, yes recall
Some gave all

Some gave all

I'm searching for a song by Charlie Daniels, and it goes to the effect..."This ain't no rag its a flag, and it stands for the USA!"

The song was available as a single CD back in October/November 2001 -- even then we had a tough time finding it -- most chain stores were too PC to carry it, but luckily we've got a small buy/sell/trade CD store nearby that had it:

This ain’t no rag, it’s a flag and we don’t wear it on our heads.
It’s a symbol of the land where the good guys live
Are you listening to what I said?
You’re a coward and fool and you broke all the rules
And you wounded our American pride.
Now we’re coming with a gun and we know you’re gonna run
But you can’t find no place to hide.
We’re gonna hunt you down like a mad dog hound
And make you pay for the lives you stole.
We’re all through talking and messing around
And now it’s time to rock and roll.
These colors don’t run and we’re speaking as one
When we say united we stand.
If you mess with one you mess with us all
Every boy, girl, woman and man.
You’ve been acting mighty rash and talking that trash
But let me give you some advice.
You can crawl back in your hole like a dirty little mole
But now it’s time to pay the price.
You might have shot us in the back but now you have to face the fact
That the big boy’s in the game.
The lightning’s been flashing and the thunder’s been crashing
And now it’s getting ready to rain.

Chorus:
This is the United States of America,
The land of the brave and free.
We believe in God, we believe in justice,
We believe in liberty.
You’ve been pulling our chain
And we shoulda done something about you a long time ago.
But now the flag’s flying high and fur’s gonna fly
And now the whole world’s gonna know.

This ain’t no rag it’s a flag: old glory, red, white and blue.
The stars and the stripes and when it comes to a fight
We can do what we have to do.
Our people stand proud
The American crowd is faithful and loyal and tough.
We’re as good as the best and better than the rest
You’re gonna find out soon enough.
When you look up in the sky and you see the eagle fly
You’d better know he’s headed your way.
This ain’t no rag it’s a flag, and it stands for the USA.

-- Charlie Daniels

My country tis of thee,
Sweet land of liberty,
Of thee I sing.
Land where my fathers died!
Land of the Pilgrim's pride!
From every mountain side,
Let freedom ring!

My native country, thee,
Land of the noble free,
Thy name I love.
I love thy rocks and rills,
Thy woods and templed hills;
My heart with rapture fills
Like that above.

Let music swell the breeze,
And ring from all the trees
Sweet freedom's song.
Let mortal tongues awake;
Let all that breathe partake;
Let rocks their silence break,
The sound prolong.

Our father's God to, Thee,
Author of liberty,
To Thee we sing.
Long may our land be bright
With freedom's holy light;
Protect us by Thy might,
Great God, our King!

Oakie From Muskogee by Merle Haggard

We don't smoke marijuana in Muskogee;
We don't take our trips on LSD;
We don't burn our draft cards down on Main Street;
We like livin' right, and bein' free.

We don't make a party out of lovin';
We like holdin' hands and pitchin' woo;
We don't let our hair grow long and shaggy,
Like the hippies out in San Francisco do.

I'm proud to be an Oakie from Muskogee,
A place where even squares can have a ball.
We still wave Old Glory down at the courthouse,
And white lightin's still the biggest thril of all.

Leather boots are still in style for mainly footwear;
Beads and roman sandals won't be seen.
Football's still the roughest thing on campus,
And the kids here still respect the college dean.

And I'm proud to be an Oakie from Muskogee,
A place where even squares can have a ball.
We still wave Old Glory down at the courthouse,
And white lightin's still the biggest thril of all.

We still wave Old Glory down at the courthouse,
In Muskogee, Oklahoma, USA.

Jonathan Edwards had a seventies hit "Sunshine" that has a conservative feel to it. I've wanted to tell more than one leftist politician "you can't even run your own life. I'll be damned if you run mine!"

Here are the lyrics:

Sunshine go away today
I don't feel much like dancing
Someone's come, he's trying to run my life
Don't believe what he's asking

He tells me I'd better get in line
Don't believe what he's saying
When I grow up I'm going to make it mine
But these aren't dues I been paying

{Refrain}
How much does it cost, I'll buy it
The time is all we've lost, I'll try it
But he can't even run his own life
I'll be damned if he'll run mine, Sunshine

Sunshine go away today
I don't feel much like dancing
Someone's come he's trying to run my life
Don't believe what he's asking

Working starts to make you wonder where
The fruits of what I do are going
He says in love and war all is fair
But he's got cards he ain't showing

Sunshine come on back another day
Pretty soon I'll be singing
This old world, gonna turn around
Brand new bells will be ringing
