A former autopsy assistant allegedly stockpiled 157 pounds of human remains, including two well-preserved heads, because he was curious and wanted to conduct his own research in anatomy, police said Saturday.
David Lawrence Beale was arrested Friday after a tip led police to a shed near his home and a storage locker he rented in this quiet college town about 75 miles northeast of San Francisco, Lt. Jim Harritt said.

Hey, I'll bet he got those pig bones from my trash yesterday; I had a hambone leftover from last Sunday and froze it Thursday night to go out in Friday's trash because I don't like the neighborhood dogs to go running around with pig parts.

When interviewed by the authorities about that exact question, he replied "No, I'm over all that. I haven't been a necrophiliac since some rotten chick split on me!"
Detectives at the scene reportedly declined the suspect's invitation to join him in "poppin' open a cold one."
