how does one become a Penile Puppeteer? Is this something we could learn to do at home? And how do you get the puppet's arms to move?

For years, I kept a clipped little cartoon in my office desk drawer...a guy stretched out with a little dragon "unit puppet"; he had a gloved knight on the 'working hand' and was asking the knight who might want to slay the evil dragon. The knight was replying, "I volunteer, O Royal Commander".

Don't get me wrong here....I only kept it in my desk because the office wimmins loved it and insisted on it's being brought out on occasion.

Oh, I wish I did! The gals axed to see it a year or so ago, and it had gone missing....hmmmm.

When I left that office I made a point to look for it, and it was gone......'twas a true classic. Sigh

I think the county should have a say on what is to be held in their public theater built with public money.

So if a county school chose not to allow the Boy Scouts or an after-school Bible group to use their facilities, you wouldn't have a problem?

"So if a county school chose not to"

What do you mean, county school? A school doesn't choose anything.

Are you talking about the teachers? Scool principal? School district? County board? Parents? Community? Who "chose not to"?

I would have a problem if this decision were made by a select few spineless politically correct individuals with an agenda, yes.

How about HBO public executions?

I’m not sure exactly what death has to do with nudity (issues?), but sure – I’m all for HBO executions. As long as they’re guilty.

And I'd recommend airing it after 11pm, so as not to scare the kiddies. Plus, they better use the chair. Lethal injection will not garner any significant ratings.

I nominate Mumia for the season premiere.

"I’m not sure exactly what death has to do with nudity"

Nothing, actually. It had to do with your comment in post #36 which stated that you saw it on HBO and that "nobody sees it who doesn't pay to see it."

It just seemed to me that having that attitude would lead to your approval on anything HBO would care to show.

Yes, that’s my attitude. As long as their programming doesn’t break any laws (like child sex laws, or libel laws for instance) they can show whatever they like.

They are not using tax payer dollars. They are not invading any homes.

You not only have to invite them in, you have to pay them for the priviledge.

Am I correct in assuming, from your attitude, that you would like big momma government to step in and control their content? Do you fancy yourself a “conservative?”

It's funny, my husband and I were joking last night that someone should do a male version of the Vagina Monologues, about talking penises and men who allow their penis to run their lives, like Kobe Bryant et alias.

I'm not saying it's good art, but at least I'm not paying for it. I can live with that.

I certainly won't be attending, but I do admit to a being a little curious. The Eiffel Tower?

The hamburger is the one you don't want to see - makes me want to protectively cross my legs just thinking about it... Why? Er... don't know if you've heard the British expression 'meat and two veg' - but they twistthe veg! Urhhhher!

Enforced by whom?

Since HBO is a national company, I assume your "community" is the country, and your agent of enforcement over their content would be the federal government.

So I am, in fact, correct in saying that you want the federal government to control the content of provider of a pay-to-view service.

I like how you beat around the bush, without actually saying it.

Try saying it honestly - "I want the federal government to enforce control over content of a service people have to pay to view." and see if it sounds conservative to you.

And who decides what content is "decent" enough to be seen by willing adults. Would that be you? Some appointed board of censors? Our elected representatives?

Will shows with gun violence be banned? Or just ones that show naked penises? What about a show that features a shot of Michaelangelo's David? Or is that excempt because its art? Who decides what is art? A committee of "artists" from Greenwhich Village? A church group in Idaho? Will revolutionary language be banned? Or just the F-word? What about the N-word? What about the word "abortion"?

Its nice to speak in platitudes about "community standards" but lets get down to the nitty gritty of how the government will enforce this power and who will control these decisions over content that you want to make it illegal for adults to view.

Too bad the Vagina monologues cannot share the stage with the Puppetry of the penis, and vie for "The most offensive jerks, pretending to be artists" award.

"The public always has the right to choose what they see, what they don’t want to see,” said Vice Chairman Barbara Favola. “There are freedom-of-expression issues here . . . in this county, we’ve always valued freedom of speech.”

This cries out for CENSORSHIP!

County Manager Ron Carlee said that the county could run into legal problems if it tried to restrict what performers can do on stage.

Is he saying that because the SCOTUS declared sodomy a protected act, now ANYTHING goes - anwhere???

“We do not regulate legitimate art content,” Carlee said.

Since when is this sick s**t art??

As far as I can tell from the article, not one penny of public money is going to this "exhibit."

One problem I see is that the board members said they had no choice but to allow it. So the freedom has been taken away. Any "expression" -no matter how obscene, disgusting, perverse, or offensive - MUST be allowed, or the ACLU will be crawling down someone's throat.

But expressions of a religious nature? VERBOTEN!

"THE VAGINA MONOLGUES " is something entirely different.

The " puppetry " consists of men , naked men, pulling/twisting/manipulating their penises into weird shapes. This too has been on cabel, BTW.

The original topic concerned a production at a county-run theater. The community, through their county board, should have a say in what's being presented. The county board, if they are representative at all of the people they serve, should be entrusted with making these decisions. If not, it's time for a new county bord.

You're the one who brought up, and defended, seeing this production on HBO. Now, if someone attacks the production, suddenly they're in favor of federal government censorship.

BTW, someone in the federal government is already censoring what you see on your precious HBO, so you need to quit your "the sky is falling" routine. It's laughable.

You, not I, brought up the issue of censorship regarding HBO. I told you it's not the government's business. You seem to feel it is, though you continue to be unwillingly to state it honestly.

When I asked questions too difficult for you to answer, you tried to run away from the issue.

That was truly laughable.

I would have watched it on cable TV. It is essentially like freek shows. I watched an indian freek pull on his pinis until he stretched it ti about 2 feet! It was not erotic-it was simply some dirt bag, stretching his skin.
