From a recently translated letter Gareth Jones received from the Ukraine:
Wohldenfuerst, 24.4.1933

My gracious uncle...

. . .I turn to you with terrible and outrageous news: Famine!

My husband is a deaf-mute, and is 37 years old. I am 33 years old, and we have three children, who are 12, 8 and 6 years old. My youngest son has died. Right up to now, my husband, our children and I retain our belief in the Lord . . .(snip)

We no longer have a bed for each person. We now sleep four to a bed, my husband sleeps on the table. Now we want to forget everything, then it won't hurt so much. Oh Lord, hunger is so painful. We ate rotten turnips for five weeks that my husband, little children and I went begging for. But now we no longer have any more left, and the sack is empty.

We have been eating grass for the past two weeks. I even went to a little hill where a dead horse lay, and ate some of it. My husband is ill, his body is swollen, my children are swollen. The doctor claims that the people will be dropping like flies, due to the hot weather . . .Whole families lay unburied on the paths of the steppes for weeks. No one cares. Cats and dogs are eaten.

An underground trade organisation has been formed in the nearby town of Armawir, where people are slaughtered and are turned into sausages and cutlets, to be sold for food . . . full text plus other letters

Here was a reporter who wasn't afraid to "poke the bear"! We are very much in his debt for it.

Back when Stalin drasticly reduced CO² emissions in Russia. And the libs/dems will still lie for him to this day.

Very probable Stalin had Gareth Jones murdered in Manchukuo. Before heading to China, Jones was in Japan. He stayed at the home of the man who was Soviet spy Richard Sorge's radio operator.

One of the most curious things about Gareth Jones is that while he pegged both Stalin and Hitler before most people did, he missed Japan hitting Hawaii--more evidence, I believe, that up to 1935, Japan had no intention of going to war with the USA. Actions by those around FDR who were working for the Soviets are what caused the situation to deteriorate.

The New York Times has been called the most prestigious US newspaper. Its reporter was the first winner of the prestigious Pulitzer Prize. George Bernard Shaw was annointed by the Times and others as a prestigious playwright. All were boosters of Stalin's massacre of millions of innocents.

Jones died alone and unrecognized. He and other unrecognized wrote the truth of the evils of the communists regime.

Anne Coulter's book deals with the tip of the iceberg in who supported and enabled this evil empire. A price should be paid by these 'prestigious' people for the harm they have caused.

Maybe Nkycin was making fun of liberals. They believe exposing commies means you are a Nazi, a fascist, a McCarthyite.

"A price should be paid", and so it shall, there is a special place waiting for this evil.

So many years, so many lies from NYT. It's breathtaking to see how they and their fellow travelers changed history (in the minds of the sheeple).

I have more trust in a supermarket tabloid than in NYT.

The New York Times is still lying about Russia. There was an article last night on the Putin/Oligarch fight. The Times pretends the Oligarchs are on the side of progress. The truth is they are funding the Russian communist party. This thread is almost funny:

A Crackdown on an Oil Tycoon Shakes up Russian Politics (NYTs disinformatio ^

This is an important issue as elections are coming up in Russia. Americans deserve to know who is doing what and what the possible effect on us will be. But the New York Times has it ass-backwards. The sickest part is the rest of the media will report the Times' misinformation as fact.

This is a fascinating story, and I hope everyone will read the link.

Jones was a thorough and honest reporter; it's nice to see him getting the respect he deserves.

Perhaps when things settle down a little, you could start a discussion about Richard Sorge. This portion of history is being ignored in the classrooms, and much of what we're dealing with today has roots in these important pieces of history.

I was struck by this line in the UPI story:

You can expect to be branded as a liar in the most prestigious newspaper in the United States

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

A major movie was just released in Japan about Sorge. Cost a fortune to make I've read. Haven't heard how it is playing or if it will be here.

"I have more trust in a supermarket tabloid than in NYT."

ANY tabloid could do better.

I wonder if the NYT got a Pulitzer when they published the Pentagon Papers, which were leaked, and escalated the anti-war movement during Vietnam. I believe the Washington Post and the Globe followed their lead after the court upheld the First Amendment rights.
