If I understood the ABC report correctly, the shots are coming from a nearby building.

FNC says he was inside his office and not hurt

Now, I'm not sure if it happened inside or outside of city hall

Were these shots fired within the building, or out the windows? I mean, where were the cops when they were shot? Anyone know?

Gunshots Heard At City Hall

(Lower Manhattan-AP, July 23, 2003) — Gunshots rang out Wednesday afternoon at City Hall, apparently coming from the second floor of the building in Lower Manhattan.

The shots, fired shortly after 2 p.m., sent reporters in the press room diving for cover beneath their desks. It was unclear if anyone was injured when about a dozen shots rang out.

(07-23) 11:23 PDT NEW YORK (AP) --

Shots rang out Wednesday afternoon at City Hall, sending reporters in the press room diving for cover beneath their desks.

The mayor was in his first floor office and was not harmed, said his spokesman, Edward Skyler.

The shots were fired shortly after 2 p.m., apparently on the second floor of the building in lower Manhattan. It was unclear if anyone was wounded when about a dozen shots rang out.

Police officers, including some in riot gear, were seen running across the plaza in front of the building once the shooting stopped. It was not immediately known if the shooter was in custody.

The City Council was holding a meeting on Wednesday, but it was unclear if the shooting was related to the session.

You mean the law against killing people, and the law prohibiting handguns did NOT keep this criminal from shooting people? Not possible! We need more gun laws. If we outlaw guns this could never happen!
