A U.S. soldier gestures to arriving media as he stands guard with his MK-19 grenade launcher outside of a children's hospital Saturday, July 26, 2003, in the city of Baqouba, 70 kms. north of Baghdad, Iraq. Earlier in the day three U.S. troops were killed and four injured after a grenade was tossed by a passing car into the front squre of the hospital. (AP Photo /Sergei Grits)

I might feel the same way if the only time the media came around was to descend like vultures after my fellow soldiers were killed.

God bless that soldier for so eloquently stating the rest of America's feelings on the vulture culture that is the lamestream media.

Give that man a medal!. That's the kind of spirit one likes to see! Especially where the media are concerned, now that the imbeds are mostly gone and the blow dried crowd has 'invaded'.

Good pic. Saved it.
Question:
I always come across pics like this on FR. I will do a fast "Right Click" and save. Does anybody know of a program that would let me rapidly save a picture in the same manner, but add a note to it? I'd like to be able to associate a caption, source, title, etc. with pics that I capture, without it being a huge project.

Too bad he didn't just swing that Mk19 around on the presstitutes and expend some ammo on the enemy.

Just tell the clymers that it means 'you're number one'.
They're probably too dumb to know the difference! ;-)
To: saquin
The media are showing themselves to be the America-haters we've always known they are. Their behavior is repulsive. The questions they ask are so uninformed that they constantly expose their ignorance of military operations and their disappointment in any progress the troops are making. Even Micklashefsky (I don't care how he spells it), who covers the Pentagon, was stupid enough to question whether "too much" firepower might have been used against the Hussein brothers. Hey, Jim! There's no such thing as too much firepower, idiot.

Your comment reminded me of the American POWs at Cabanatuan who nicknamed one of the Japanese guards "Donald Duck". When the guard asked who Donald Duck was, they told him he was a "famous Hollywood movie star". He dug that pretty hard. : ) (Until he saw the real Donald Duck on one of their movie nights...then he went off.)
To: DaughterOfAnIwoJimaVet
Great story.
But at least the Japanese guard had an excuse...he didn't understand English.
To: EternalVigilance
I'm not sure the middle finger is part of universal language, but I will happily volunteer to spell out its meaning to any member of the press who doesn't understand it. : )

Is that actually the man's finger? It looks almost like that crop photo at the Kentucky Derby.
And I must say that there must quite a bit of arrogance in the press to release and publish this. What newspaper are they expecting will print this? It's clearly their way of trying to embarrass our men and women fighting overseas.
But if the picture is accurate, I guess this soldier has an entirely different concept for the term "embedded reporter".
