We can only hope that the NAACP and several liberal cities suffer the same fate as payment for their own frivolous lawsuits........

Didn't some anti-gun group supply her the lawyers or help with the legal exspenses? If so Valor Corp should sue that bunch of freaks

I would like to see the gun manufacturers be able to re-coup their legal fees, but I think this is the wrong case to do it. The widow is too sympathetic a figure. I think the cities who sue gun manufacturers and lose should have to pay.

Yes, and the gun companies should sue the NAACP out of existence for their part in the gun lawsuits.

...slimebag lawyer (there's an oxymoron). An oxymoron is a contradiction in terms, like jumbo shrimp or military intelligence. I think you mean redundancy.
But I would assert that not all lawyers are slimebags. It's the dishonest 90% that make the other 10% look bad.
To you original point, yes, we need some form of checks and balances on lawyers and plaintiffs to curb predatory, opportunistic (I don't think "frivilous" is the right term) lawsuits.

You know what they say about paybacks. Time for the ambulance chaser to get theirs.

As with most gross generalizations, your's is way off.
A great many attorneys, myself among them, would like to see the courts have greater latitude in awarding counsel fees and costs to prevailing parties. I have seen too many clients knuckle under to settlements in bad cases because they could not afford the cost of fighting the case, even though they were almost certain to prevail. You are correct that there are some morally deficient lawyers who use this to milk the system, and I would dearly love to see them put out of business, but it is not the whole profession or anything close to it.

Not my line, but I like it.

Where you gonna find a lawyer to sue a lawyer? If there's a fee attached, I doubt it would be difficult.

I disagree, paying for frivilous lawsuits should not be the collective responsibility of all Lawyers.
Since when did lawyers care more about responsibility than who had pockets deep enough to pay?
How would you stop the runaway corruption of these bandits, who are practically invulnerable to lawsuits over THEIR actions?

Sorry, but I disagree.
According to a trial lawyer I know, the prevailing wisdom is more like " He who lives in glass houses....". You don't fight someone who can fight back if you can help it.

I think you missed my point, the key word in my arguement is collective.
Corruption exists in all professions, not just lawyers, in turn there are many lawyers who are honest and decent.
My point is, why should honest people, (in this case I mean honest lawyers), be forced to contribute to a fund designed to share the responsibility for actions commited by the dishonest.
As for your question: Since when did lawyers care more about responsibility than who had pockets deep enough to pay?
I would have to say, since always and since never, considering that all lawyers are individuals. I don't think it's fair that you paint the law profession with such a broad brush.

A gun distributor that won a lawsuit brought by the widow of slain Lake Worth teacher Barry Grunow wants her to pay its legal fees but won't go after her personal assets. Softies.

I agree. Sue her for every last penny and asset that she has and don't stop till you get it all. When you have her house, car, and puppy dog; have it all bulldozed into a hole. Don't leave these slimey scum anything.

Two bad things about lawyer jokes
The lawyers don't think they are funny
Honest citizens don't think they are jokes

I would like to have juries have the option of declaring a suit frivilous. In such a case, defendant's legal fees are to be paid by plaintiff's LAWYER (since he, as the legal expert, should have known the suit was frivilous, and declined to persue it). With plaintiff's lawyer being barred from filing any further suits until the costs are paid in full

Yeah, there is a great sympathetic case for the RKBA crowd. You define scummy as a widow with two kids who lost her husband to somebody wielding a low rent special, chased after by lawyers for a company that lost by a unanimous verdict at a jury trial, but wound up with a JNOV awarded by a prostituting judge.
