The FR "states" page shows that there are 2 Cubans registered on FR. Excellent!

They ain't living in Cuba I know that much.

I have a cuban family in my church and they are hard working decent Christians.

Shhh... be careful where you say this on the paleo-filled FR. Only white Americans can be hard working Christians. Everyone else is an "illegal" from the "Turd World" and is here to leech off everyone else.

Within 24 hours they would have driver's licenses, a social security card, medicaid benefits, free education, and an attitude.

Well said. We need to stop the leech invasion. Borders, language and culture should reign supreme.

So why did 20% vote for Gore?

Because, in any population group under study, somebody has comprise the dumbest 20%.

What other population group went 80% or higher for Bush?

Read it again, paragraph 1 says hijacked, paragraph 4 says stolen. I will only accept the use of hijacked if you can prove the boat had unwilling passengers.

No, they haven't. Their home country may consider their thirst for freedom a crime but we don't. We DO, however, consider highjacking (yes, I'll use that since it's from the article) a crime.

Since all property belongs to the state, if the refugee used anything other than their feet (rafts, inner tubes, boats, kites, balloons), they have stolen/hijacked.

What do you think would be the result of a blanket policy of accepting all comers from Cuba?

It would be a return to the status before Klintoon. Other than the Mariel incident (in which Castro decided to dump his prisons and insane asylums onto President Carter), there has been no mass exodus.

With what?!?!?

This is so easy for you to say, but Castro is in charge and his brother backs him up and the thugs with guns under them are still willing to shoot. The totalitarian control that the Communist government exercises prevents any way of accumulating the resources to overthrow Castro, unlike say the dictatorship of Batista, when people still had property rights.

I would venture to say that anyone that thinks all foriegners are illegals and treate them as such ar not true conservatives.

I being the great grandson of an Italian immigrant support all legal immigration. People who flee a country like Cuba are not illigal immigrants and should be afforded our protection and not sent back.

Other people from countries that have a democratically elected government such as Mexico need to adhere to the immigration laws as passed.

Yeah, I am in full agreement with what you say, as well as with Novak's entire article.

My question is...why is the Bush administration so 'afraid' of Castro?

If the Bush folks are afraid of another 'Mariel exodus', then they should calmly do this:

- Establish contingency plans.
- Warn Cuba..If you send an exodus and we will consider this an action against our national security, and we will take down your government.
- We have the power to do this, and no one is going to stop us.
- We did it Panama, Greneda, and recently in Iraq.

END OF STORY, and our security will now be better enhanced.

There is no more threat from any Soviet Union, so no one is going to step in to protect Castro. PERIOD!!!

Why we fret over this so much, is beyond my comprehension.

Great insight, I think your analysis is right on the mark.

I wonder if we are developing contingency plans to liberate Cuba when El Maximo A$$hole dies. We should be prepared for this event and use the opportunity to finally rescue Cuba from the shackles of communism. Failure to act will only result in continued murder and poverty for Cubans.

I realize you are joking, but man, I'd love to be a part of that military operation.
