Gang Members Held in Rape of Runaways
By Bianca Sausa Times Herald-Record bsausa@th-record.com
Newburgh, (NY) Five men were charged this week with raping two runaway teen girls, Newburgh police said last night. Four of the five, police said, are members of the Benkard Barrios Kings gang. Detective Lt. Santo Centamore said the girls, ages 14 and 15, were runaways from a juvenile facility in the area and were lured into the second-floor apartment at 70 Hasbrouck St. on July 19 with the prospect of alcohol and marijuana. The girls were held down and raped by at least six men, police said. The girls reported the rape July 25. After being in hiding for six days, the girls returned home and told one of their mothers, Centamore said. The mother contacted police. On Sunday, Newburgh detectives executed a search warrant at the 70 Hasbrouck St. apartment, where, they said, they found some cocaine on the living room floor and arrested five people who were either living there or had been staying there for the night. Two of those people, Alberto Bonilla, 21, of 70 Hasbrouck St., and Humberto Luna, 18, were identified as suspects in the rape. Centamore said Luna was arrested after being found to have false immigration and Social Security documents. The U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service placed immigration holds on Bonilla and Luna as well as two others. They were found to be illegal immigrants from Honduras, police said. Further investigation led police to arrest Johnny Banegas, 23, Gabriel Garcia, 24, and Kevin Lopez, 21, all of Newburgh, who were also illegal immigrants from Honduras, Centamore said. The men were all charged with two counts of first-degree rape, a felony. Luna, Bonilla, Banegas and Garcia were identified as known members of the BBK either through the Newburgh City Police Gang Unit or by identifying tattoos, Centamore said. The house at 70 Hasbrouck St. is blue and has two apartments inside. It sits directly across the street from a house spray-painted with BBK graffiti. The second-floor apartment is a known hangout for members of the BBK, Centamore said. The five men arrested are being held in Orange County Jail on the rape charge and INS detainers. The investigation is continuing.

Let me guess: the NYPD won't cooperate with the INS in getting them expelled from the country.

Not anymore. Our beloved Congres see fit to ram the Mexican cards down our throat, making each illegal a "documented citizen".

Does Newburgh have a non-cooperation policy?Don't know if they have any policy. Smaller jurisdictions often go with whatever is State policy. Don't know what that is either.

Just here doing the work that most Americans are unwilling to do. (With the possible exception of Kobe Bryant.)

can anyone say machine guns nests and mine fields at the borders?

This is a very small city, 25,000 people. It has a gang problem???
To: XHogPilot
Sheesh, I go to church down the street from these people. Lots of aliens in Newburgh, some have actually improved the neighborhoods they inhabit. Some, obviously, have not. Overall they improve the welfare slums they move into. I was watching the Gangs of New York last night, we have to be careful not to be to nativist. Problem is all the idiot state welfare workers and the programs they administer make being here too attractive for the wrong types of people. V's wife.

",we have to be careful not to be to nativist." Too nativist?
What are you talking about?
It's "too nativist" of us to want all illegal aliens deported?
I say that if they won't leave by the puerta, we should throw them out the ventana.
They're all criminals.

Isn't that the truth! I've had it with all these illegals. They are criminals the minute they cross the border, and a large number of them compound that crime by becoming gangbangers. The gangs must be crushed!
To: XHogPilot
This is what we get when we've got a government encouraging any kind of low-life to come over the border with no background or health checks, many illegals are nothing but violent drug smugglers.

For all the bots: this is happening under the REPUBLICAN watch. Alan Keyes was right, if a bit obnoxious pointing out that indigenous criminals accompany an influx of illegals.

Newburgh's police force is stretched thin, and the crooks know it.
They literally do not have the manpower to deal with the city's size.
And no-one wants to kill pet projects to fund law enforcement, that would be too much like admitting that there is a problem or that the pet projects are unneeded.
And before anyone says the cliche'd "How would YOU know?": I live close enough to the place, and my old National Guard unit is in the armory there.

Yes.
There aren't enough cops.
The cops that are on the force pull triple shifts sometimes.
And the city will not, or cannot hire more.
But it will pay out for democrat pet projects....

Newburgh is primarily a DEMOCRAT city.
Their last mayor (A woman) was a flaming Dem.
Their current mayor is either a Dem, or a nose drippy RINO.

NYPD has nothing to do with it. This mess is being handled by local "small town" departments, that come in and try to help out an overwhelmed small city dept ( Newburgh ), and who are excoriated by local area media if they have to use force of any sort.
Newburgh was a "tough" town when I was a kid;but, from what I've heard,a massive influx of Spanish-speaking "illegals" has occurred. These newcomers are in conflict with the Blacks, the Puerto Ricans, the Skinheads, etc.

Got that right!
And the police force has been cut back in recent years, so that there is absolutely no coverage for some areas.
It is bad, probablky bleaker than we know, but the police that Newburgh does have sometimes pull triple shifts.
And even then they have incomplete coverage.
They just don't have the manpower for the crime rate.
And the Times Herald Record basically advertised Newburgh as being open for business with an article talking about how few police officers teh place has!

The "gold digger" is 19 and may, or may not have given consent. The last thing I read was that she had given consent for "some" sexual activity. I don't know if Cobe is guilty or not. The young girls, age 14 and 15 can not give consent because they are underage. For an adult to have sex with them is rape. These guys are all adults and illegal aliens, that much seems clear. The rape charge is for the courts.

Until our spineless Congress starts HALTING illegal immigration, we can expect more stories like this for years to come.
To: Darksheare
"Nose-drippy"...I've got to remember that one. Doesn't change the fact that the borders are wide open under the watch of a Republican Congress and Saint W.
To: George W. Bush
But where was Kobe when this happened? He was trying to get out of his court appearance for felony sexual assault 3 (Rape). His fans are trying to help him get away with rape.
By their standards, we really don't know that a rape occurred with these two alleged victims or that these alleged perpetrators had anything to do with it.
They were probably watching basketball anyway.
To: XHogPilot
llegal aliens are not only in the US to do cheap labor. They are criminals from the day they arrived. It's okay! They all voted for Hillary--two or three timesd.
To: warchild9
No, it doesn't, but the fact that there just isn't teh police manpower to deal with crime at all doesn't help the situation either.
And Newburgh just does not have the officers available to nab crooks.
And the Times Herald Record pretty much advertised the city as open for criminal business with an article stating as much.
I've been waiting for something like this to happen since that article was written, and am now waiting for the THR to whine "where were the cops?"
It's a situation made doubly worse by mismanagement, and outright stupidity at all levels.
