i loved this article. But is it really coming from a soldier in iraq?

Outstanding. A piece of excellent work by a Marine who knows the score. Sounds like an officer with access to the internet, but swears like an old Gunnery Sergeant.
Gotta love it!

We bog down to rest and refuel within sight of Baghdad; the howling Moonbats squeal in delight at a perceived golden opportunity to bend us over the barrel. A week later, Saddams most prominent statue is torn down and dragged through the streets, at which point they mumble to themselves and stare at their shoes. A vastly hyperbolized museum looting story helps them rodeo-clown attention away from our glory-fest.

Now, every time a soldier is killed by a snipers bullet, an RPG from a rooftop, or a roadside bomb, the press giddily reports, Today the **th soldier to be killed since President Bush declared an end to hostilities on May 1st (emphasis mine) died in a (shooting) (bombing) (ambush). Headlines are as canned as New York Times obituaries. Equally appalling, with that preface to casualty reports, the media are shamelessly grinding twisted political axes with the bones of our brothers. Reporters wonder why we stinky-palm them. Now, men are dying to hold this country together, in small numbers yet each irreplaceable beyond all cost, . . . [and]Journalists circle about like buzzards, waiting gleefully in the wings to sign our toe tags, live and in color.
THEY ARE PROVIDING AID AND COMFORT TO OUR ENEMIES. I need to hit the books and look it up, but I am pretty damned sure that that makes them TRAITORS. By unleashing a tidal wave of coverage on each and every attack, they encourage our enemies to hit again and again, confident in their own minds that the constant screeching and bleating in the press will unnerve and worry our families to no end, and little by little dent our national resolve to keep up the fight. At which point they hope internal pressures will cause us to pull our presence out and let a reconstituted Baath flood back into the vacuum, much like the endgame in Vietnam.
Respectfully suggest that the members of the military take out ads in the paper to condemn the exploitation of their comrades'--or, heaven forefend, their own--deaths to publicly insinuate that their mission cannot succeed. And to suggest that it constitutes the motivation for the murders--the Ba'athists have no legitimate authority, do not constitute an army with an address and hence are not combatants under the Geneva Convention--of America servicemen. As such, such abuse is the exact analog of crying "FIRE!" in a crowded theater--and is not constitutionally protected speech.

But is it really coming from a soldier in iraq? I don't think so. It doesn't have any of the details that someone actually there would include. For instance: This guy includes that kind of detail:
Just a quick note, we have moved again! Havent left Camp Patriot, but we are now in our third tent here. Why? Well, with the change of management (see Army taking over for Navy) there comes a change of venue, at least until the Army figures out that were living in the not-as-nice part of Camp and moves us back to here we were. Its not as bad as some might have you believe. The tents are a bit bigger but farther away from chow/shower/gym so there is a trade off, and, like I said at Ft. McCoy, things could be a whole lot worse. Last night I went out to dinner. Actually 30 of us went out to dinner at a local resort that charged us $25 (U.S.) for a buffet, and the best part was that I got to wear the jeans I brought along, Just in Case. I had forgotten how good a pair of broke-in jeans can feel, I had really forgotten how good food can taste when the chef puts a little effort into it and isnt trying to serve 2,000. I believe that Ive been to the mountaintop, and that I can never go back because I wont leave.
Or this guy:
Things I've done this week.
9mm and M16 shoot - not for points, just for "fam fire" Promotion ceremony at embassy - aka free bar Worked on a powerpoint in homage of our own Austin Powers. Showed said powerpoint in staff meeting. It was a big hit. and the normal day to day stuff. You guys didn't miss much.
Note to self: Take gloves to next fam fire. 9mm's get exceptionally hot when left in the sun between shooters. As in 1st degree burn hot. Something about a black steel frame absorbing solar radiation - of which there's no shortage here.
Or read this guy, or this one, or this one, or this one, or this one, or even this one. They are all actually in the AOR. The details they include in their writings all make them sound authentic. This guy does not. I think it's a fake.

Great read...
A number of real funny lines, but this one should be emailed to Fox:

For someone critical of the politicization of the Iraq war, this author sure spent a lot of time politicizing the war. Marines in my time didn't give a rats ass about the politics. We had a job to do and it was done. Sure we would bitch and moan privately and amongst ourselves, but not so anyone else would ever know about it.
I realize the times have changed since my time as an active Marine. But still, something in my gut tells me this ain't real...since this piece was certainly not a letter home to mom or susieQ. Besides, in my time, we were not allowed to speak freely regarding such matters.
My opinion. This author seems to have an attitude unbecoming of a Marine.

This forum has rules about personal insults. But I will ignore your post. As I said: since the troops in Iraq are not free to complain and can be punished for it why do you accept this post? Funny- During the Stalingrad campaign Goebbels had all negative letters from the troops to their families and loved ones back home destroyed and only let the rosey ones through.
