Because he isn't Irish, and he is, afterall, the Senator from Massachusettes.
He lied about being Irish, and it seems he lied about being Catholic, as well.
When does his term expire?

"It is important not to have the church instructing politicians," Kerry said. "That is an inappropriate crossing of the line in this country..." If Senator Kerry believed the Bible's teaching he wouldn't need to be instructed. But he doesn't and so he does.

Who and how is in charge of the Catholic rite of excommunication. Has Kerry strayed far enough from Catholic doctrine and behavior to merit that sanction?
If so, perhaps the Pope should let him know precisely what it is about. Flat out and no nuances. Return to the doctrine of the Church or leave it.
This all seems like such a no brainer to me. I am not a Catholic, or an Episcopilian, but I find myself spending so much time on these threads. The way I look at it, a Church is like a club. If you want to be a Catholic, you accept Catholic doctrine or leave.

""It is important not to have the church instructing politicians," Kerry said"It seems liberals are still criticizing Pope Pius for not 'speaking out' on moral abuses in Germany. This Pope is speaking out about moral abuses in the US.

There was an old-time LAW that Ministers and/or church leaders could not hold public office. I'm not sure where I read it.

If I understood responses to me yesterday, then Kerry, a supporter of abortion, is in mortal danger for willfully violating an infallible denunciation of abortion from the seat of St Peter. Apparently, Kerry, and all abortion advocates, are out of communion with the church and are walking the path toward eternal destruction.

Recently I was reading a wonderful book by an old Dutch Reformed Theologian, Herman Bavinck (d. 1921). The topic of the book is Creation Theology. The apropo point he makes is that God is the God of all creation, not just of the Church. Kerry's "separation of church and state" is bogus. The institution of marriage was established long before there were civil governments, long before there was a separation of the sacred from the secular. Bavinck rightly contends that there is no separation, because God is God of all, whether Kerry and his associates want to admit it or not. God is still King of kings, and Lord of lords...and will be for all eternity.

I think I would rather listen to the Pope in this case than Kerry.
The target of Kerry and other liberal gay activists are our children. How many children have been sodomised because of Dean's doings in Vermont? How many children have lost their fathers because of Kerry's words, as men are emboldened to seek other men rather than their wives?
When young children hear about this issue they naturally go "Yuck". Why don't we listen to them? They instictively know the threat to the family, why don't we?
Jesus said 'weep for the children'. Yes, it is time for prayer and fasting and weeping for the children, interceding for them before their heavenly Father to halt this deadly plague.

I guess now Limbaugh can call Kerry the "french-looking, self-proclaimed Vietnam vet, CINO (Catholic In Name Only) candidate."

Well I'm a practicing catholic and I think the Pope should just excommunicate these Catholic leaders who support abortion and same sex unions, etc. The Passion couldn't come at a better time.

They are also leading people astray....THAT is a worse sin....leading the children on the wrong path is something that REALLY gets God's goat! The Dems are speaking out on POLICY Pro-EVIL.....very bad thing to do.
To: diamond6
Technically, I believe they've excommunicated themselves. There doesn't need to be a formal proclamation.
I'm sure Sinkspur or another will help me if I'm wrong.

I highly recommend the book "Predators, Pedophiles, Rapists and other Sex Offenders" by Anna C. Salter, PH.D. The book is very graphic and upsetting. I found myself crying through most of it, however, it offers tips on how to protect your child from pedophiles, i.e. always be present at sports events (they often prey on children who have parents who either don't really care, interact or supervise them, "groom" them and then molest. Its disgusting. THE MORE PARENTS ARE INFORMED, THE MORE CHILDREN WILL BE PROTECTED!!!!!!

I believe the track record is that the majority of those who call themselves Catholics vote D. He's not likely to lose that base as a result of these comments.
