Hey Luis,
Don't despair. This guy had to sit with the teeny-bops. I went to the Sacramento show last night (got there late ... got lost) and enjoyed it. I skipped the solos by The Other Guys, and got there when Clay was singing "This is the Night." Live and in person, he can flat-out sing. Very impressive. I had a ticket in the "floor seats", which gave me a good view. Unfortunately, some 40-ish mom behind me keeps shrieking into my ear, which was hard to take.
Ruben's voice has improved considerably, and I enjoyed his singing. But Clay was the star. He was generally commanding on stage, enjoyed himself, and sang wonderfully. I took some voice lessons this summer (from a Speech Level Singing certified teacher), and I appreciate what it takes to sing from a different perspective.
Carmen still sounds like a goat, but she dances pretty well. Kimberly Locke sang "Over the Rainbow" gorgeously - I really enjoyed her as well. I won't give it away, but the last song of the encore is worth the wait.
I had a good time, and sang all the way home. It was not a show of great consequence, but "the kids" were very appreciative that they were there, and it was nice to see kids who didn't look like five dollar hookers singing songs that I actually recognized. No, it's not the hippest show on the block, but I enjoyed it. Have fun!
(Joe Bob says check it out.)

and people were NICE to each other . . . there's something right about that picture. I've really never been to a concert where 20,000 people were ALL having such a just plain fun time. Exactly! And I've been to a bunch. It was a nice experience - even when the show was over, there was no pushing, shoving, etc. A wide range of ages, including Julia DeMato's parents off to the side. They talked about their families, how thankful and appreciative they were of the fans. Yeah, there was a cheez factor. But the musicians were sharp, the dancers were good, and it was uncynical - and I appreciated that. I did not shriek, but I danced and had a good time and enjoyed hearing these kids sing.

I went to the Idol Concert in Anaheim last night. Clay was great; Ruben sang the strangest song from his new album coming out in November. It was like a croony ballad rap song about himself. I agree with this author...I would prefer just seeing Clay in concert myself. But my two girls and i enjoyed it for the most part. Lots of "older" people like myself.

This guy needs to spend less time being concerned with American Idol and more time raising his daughter. Some guys need to spend more time reading the story. It's the writer's niece, not his daughter.
