See post #27

I did and the Bloomburg report is pure rumor, notice the last sentence of the below passage of the link you provided in reply #27.

Warren Buffett Will Be Schwarzenegger's Economic Adviser, Campaign Says

Aug. 13 (Bloomberg) --Arnold Schwarzenegger, the actor who is running for governor of California, said billionaire investor Warren Buffett will be the financial and economic adviser to his political campaign, the campaign said in a statement.

Buffett, the world's second-richest man, has built a fortune buy buying companies through his company, Berkshire Hathaway Inc.

Debbie Bosanek, Buffett's assistant, didn't immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

Notice the lack of a link to an "official" statement(could be a web hoax), and the silence by Buffet's spokesperson.

He's a financial advisor (if this is true) not an advisor on social issues like abortion. The second-richest man in the world just might have some good ideas to help salvage California. And he made his fortune himself. I don't like Buffet but he may have something beneficial to contribute on the most desperate of all issues for the state.

I take it you are addressing me. I don't have a dog in this hunt. I live in Indiana.

I am not thrilled with Warren Buffet, but the fact remains he does understand the bond and stock market. He's a democrat and outspoken in disliking the tax cuts the President passed.

So, we will see what happens. For the vast majority of voters, this will add weight to Arnold's candidacy, since if they know Buffet at all, they know him as a smart rich guy. Very few know of his political leanings or his stand on abortion.

(08-13) 12:19 PDT LOS ANGELES (AP) --

Arnold Schwarzenegger has hired Warren Buffett as his senior financial and economic adviser, his campaign announced Wednesday.

Buffett is a billionaire investor legendary for his financial prowess. The chairman of Berkshire Hathaway is also a Democrat.

"What he will be doing is assembling other prominent business leaders and economists and setting up a team to address the issues facing California," said Schwarzenegger spokesman Sean Walsh.

"I have known Arnold for years and know he'll be a great governor. It is critical to the rest of the nation that California's economic crisis be solved, and I think Arnold will get that job done," Buffett said in a statement.

Buying at low prices into well-known, solid companies, Buffett built Omaha, Neb.-based Berkshire into a huge conglomerate with a market value of more than $80 billion that owns insurance, restaurant, furniture and shoe companies. Buffett generally avoids high-tech companies, arguing he cannot tell which will be usurped by advances in technology.

(1) Whether or not a person thinks slaughtering innocent children is a good idea is THE indicator of whether or not they are socially conservative.

Many Republicans insist on voting for a person who has a conscience.

(2) Warren Buffett is NOT a fiscal conservative.

HE OPPOSES TAX CUTS.

HE SUPPORTS ALL GREAT SOCIETY SOCIAL PROGRAMS.

HE SUPPORTS ESTATE TAXES.

HE SUPPORTS PROPERTY TAXES.

Before you keep saying Buffett represents "our" point of view, examine what "our" means in the context of FR.

He's a financial advisor (if this is true) not an advisor on social issues like abortion.

Will a financial advisor have a say in recommending that California fund Planned Parenthood or not? What would Buffett suggest if asked for his financial advice? (Hint: he is perhaps the largest personal contributor to Planned Parenthood).

The second-richest man in the world just might have some good ideas to help salvage California.

Like what? Everything I know he's said indicates just the opposite. He is just another wealthy CEO who thinks squeezing the middle class is the road to riches (and it is, for them).

Milton Freidman, Larry Kudlow and other supply siders know how to fix California. It is no big secret what to do.

I detest Warren Buffet personally and politically, but I admire his monetary genius! Kalifornia, as you know, is in serious deficit!

This is also being reported on Fox. I don't think it is a rumor.

Well, we will see what happens. My guess is that to the pepople for whom this matters, they are mostly in the Simon or McClintock camp. The rest of the Arnold supporters won't care, because they don't even know who the guy is.

I must admit that this would cause me to look very closely at position papers on Arnold's economic policy. Fortunately, I don't have to make a decision about this, since I am not a Californian.

Exactly. If this doesn't convince FReepers that Ahnold is not the savior of California, I don't know what will. Whatever he may have once been, he has apparently become a big liberal after being in the Kennedy clan for too long.
