Hillary Blames Bush for Blackout
NewsMax.com ^ | Aug. 15, 2003 | Carl Limbacher

Just hours after the Northeastern power grid went down shutting off electricity for 50 million Americans, New York Sen. Hillary Clinton took to the airwaves to blame President Bush and his administration's energy policies for pushing deregulation and coddling corrupt power companies like Enron.

"I happen to think that making sure we have a reliable, affordable system of energy is a national priority - and I don't think that this administration sees it that way," Clinton told CNN's "Larry King Live."

"They have continued to try to push deregulation and privatization, and to try to undo a lot of the systems in changes that many of us thought were important and necessary that we tried to work on during the Clinton administration under [Former Energy] Secretary [Bill] Richardson's leadership."

Sen. Clinton also accused the White House of throwing "a lot of roadblocks in the way of [Calif. Gov. Gray] Davis, when he tried to clean up some of the problems that he had with the manipulation of the energy markets by Enron and others."

"So, no," she insisted, "I don't think the federal administration under this president is really focused on making sure we don't have these problems in the future."

Before Clinton phoned in her comments to the King Show, however, Gov. Richardson, now governor of New Mexico, noted that her husband had done little to address the problem during his eight years in office.

"In the Clinton administration, everybody yawned about this, [saying] oh, we don't need to do this. Oh, we don't have a crisis," he told King.

I guess Hillary's memory has failed again, she really should be checked for alzheimers. Dick Cheney warned in his speech on energy that the country was in dire need of upgrading the power grid system and forming a coherent energy policy.

The Democrats responded by attacking his motives and sources of information instead of with action.
Then of course the 9/11 attacks occurred and the energy policy was put on the back burner. It's time to drag it back out and tell the Democrats to sit down and shut up while the men do what needs to be done. I guess the Democrats would have preferred that Cheney consult with Gray Davis about how to prevent black-outs.

We could strap up Senator Clinton up on a grid and use her as a relay. : )

"Of course it's Bush's fault. Everything is his fault, including the fact that Hillary is getting fatter by the day."

She's having Rosie O'Donnell's baby.

=) In my oppinion there is nothing wrong with building homes with solar cells and solar water heaters, stirling engines or whatever to increase efficiency and reduce power consumption, but Al Gore and the envirowackos act as though this can completely solve all energy needs and neglect to realize that even if their policies would solve all energy problems (LOL!), something still would have to be done in the mean time. As more and more power plants age and are shut down, and less and less are built, conservation alone cannot cover the impending gap of production vs. consuption.

Yep. Smells like clintonian preemption to me. It's just a matter of time before the spotlight is shined on the Jr. Senator from New York's horrendous voting record with respect to energy policy (among other things).

Yes, he was.

First off I don't even want to hear Hildebeast go on about the Energy issue. Her husband did nothing about exploring new enery sources or developing any policy on the matter. When Bush tried the Dems launched a witch-hunt against his Energy taskforce. Dems also have politicized the environment as an issue to such an extent that they clearly oppose any modernization of the power grid. Dems also oppose more efficient energy systems such as Nuclear Power. Also we can blame Clinton's lack of energy policy on the looming problem of rising Natural Gas prices this winter. Dems clearly want to whine about their demands for energy, but in practice will do nothing about it.

"Shes running, I am sure of it now."

Of course she's running. Like her rapist husband, campaigning is a permanent lifestyle.

Maybe we can find a way to convert Hitlary's fat into energy. It is biologically possible, we just need a conversion source...

Well let's see...

Bush could nationalize all the powerplants and divide the country up into regions. He could appoint lawyers to run each of these regions and decide how much juice everyone could use.

Naw, that DEFINITELY wouldn't work....

Executive Order 13212. May 18, 2001 (PDF)

"By the authority vest in me as President by the Constituion and the laws of the United States of America, and in order to take addition steps to expedite the increased supply and availability of energy to our nation it is hereby ordered as follows: ..."

Read it and weep Hillary. I didn't find any EO from your husband specifically addressing increasing energy supplies.
