France is in terminal decline. They cannot even muster the will to fight for France agains the islamic invasion, much less recolonize Africa. China is the future. In our lifetimes we will see millions of Chinese in Africa.
Jean Larteguy made essentially the same observations in his novels The Centurions, The Praetorians, and The Bronze Drum. But note the equal betrayal and failure of the people of Rhodesia by the United States during the Carter administration. We're not in a very good position to be waggling our fingers at the French, considering some of our own dereliction.

Yes, the Europeans left before the continent was civilized.Only the British did colonization right. There's a big difference in the former British colonies --- like the USA for example and the colonies of the rest of Europe.
