Free Republic at Martha's Vineyard---Hillary Freep
August 17, 2003 | me

When we first got there, I checked out the line. It wasn't that long. But people were holding strange cardboard squares that said funny things like "500," "600," etc. These squares bore no relation to the number of people in line. Someone explained that they represented the number of tickets. Oh. But it didn't seem that these ghost ticket holders ever showed up. ??? Never mind . . .

There were two women near the door to the bookstore holding antiwar signs. They said "Hillary: Why did you vote for an unjust war?" That was fine. They were on the bookstore side of the street and we were on the other side. But then the police decided all protesters had to be together across the street from the bookstore. So we had lefties right in the middle of us, confusing the message.

Then one really obnoxious character decided to be the first one the people in cars saw as they passed the bookstore. Clever of her. At a fast glance it looked like an 8-person pro-Hillary demonstration, instead of 5 freepers who had broken their cookies to get there and 3 left-wing nutcases.

I thought the two groups should have been kept in separate places, but the cops did not agree with me. Thus we were all smooshed together.

We got about half and half positive and negative feedback, I would say. The Vineyard is pretty liberal. One man said, "You must be from Nantucket." So if you're planning a vacation on a Cape Cod island, make it Nantucket, not the Vineyard. We got the usual single digits, thumbs-down, and thumps-up.

It was a polite, intelligent crowd, and Martha's Vineyard is a beautiful, quaint island.

We spotted the Creamsicle-colored pantsuit with capri-length pants as the Fashion Victim exited the store, and gave her some resounding boos that completely downed out any cheers from others.

A fine finale for the last book signing. What was that slogan again? Oh yeah, We Are Everywhere.

And here are the pix:

Vinyard Freep.

Don't laugh.

Ain't seen the bent one around lately, maybe he found himself another bubble gummer. Hitlery seems to be a solo act lately, maybe she is the one that found a new main squeeze, I wonder who she is?

Someone postered a Pic of Web and Hitleries daughter on another thread, she seems to have inherited of of the worst features of both, she has been out of sight also, something bad is about to happen to the nation.

I can't believe i forgot the stereo!!

Dr. Raoul had a stereo with him to the FReep. it played "sympathy for the devil" "you're cheatin' heart" and "Stand by you're man."

It was at a reasonable volume, nothing over-powerring. It was great to hear Race and Dr, both with deep voices, singing this.

Colorado FReeper Bump!

Great Job gang. Her Majesty has now concluded "The Summer of The Devil" book tour. Her cult following now has their signed books and America knows it cannot trust Hillary. FReepers everywhere stole her thunder and made her followers look foolish. COOL!!

So I understand Hillary wasn't even in the state of New York during the power outage? There is a fact you can only get on FRee Republic.

I hope all went well for all of you East Coast FReeper Freinds during the power outage. I get lots of them here in my small town, it sucks.

Thanks for going the extra effort to make Hillary's day.
All the Best!

BRAVO BUMP for your great FREEP of the Queen of Darkness!

You guys each deserve a medal of honor....it takes much dedication to get to MV on an August Saturday. You were in the belly of liberal MA beast....lots of Hoi Polloi liberal elitists abound on that small island.

Firebrand....enjoyed watching the slide show of your colorful pics....that a great way to post photos.

Thank you all for annoying Hitlery & her cult & informing the public about her 'Lying History'!

Way to go, Tri-State and New England FReepers!!!

I knew there were discussions that some FReepers might possibly make it to the Vineyard for Her Heinous' last book signing, but didn't realize anyone was actually planning to go there. Not an easy task to get out to the Vineyard, especially during the summer.

Was this a spontaneous FReep, or did you all plan well in advance to go there on Saturday?

I'll bet 'ol Hitlery was certain that for once she wouldn't be FReeped at this book signing event off the mainland. FReepers are everywhere!

Mega-KUDOS to all of you for a really outstanding effort on this FReep! :-)

Hitlery seems to be a solo act lately,

The pair arrived by plane early yesterday afternoon, without their daughter, Chelsea. They are staying for a week at the Chilmark home of actors Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen.

Woods Hole, why?

Because I just spent the summer at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole. It's a beautiful place. You must have ridden in on one of those white buses that run between Woods Hole and Boston. I never did get over to Martha's Vineyard, though. I guess that'll have to wait until next year. But the biking is great between Woods Hole and Falmouth.

You didn't miss much. i've been there before and there isn't much there. it's just like most other small beach towns on the cape, and in Maine.

Why weren't you at the FReep?

Went there once as a kid, the summer that "Jaws" came out. What I remember is my dad being really pissed over how much everything was, a cold ocean, a pathetic, rocky excuse of a beach, and a huge overpopulation of jellyfish that tended to keep me out of the water.

Why weren't you at the FReep?

I was already back in Chicago; otherwise, the FReep there would have been the best reason of the summer to have gone over to MV.

If my back wasn't hurting so much, I would go through all the media articles where our FReepes were mentioned. I would wager the media read something in the NYT sometime in the past where, "Across the street stood a half-dozen demonstrators..." and used the phrase, "a half-dozen protesters" as their criteria.

Excellent report and pictures! Thank you, thank you, thank you all for making such an effort to be at Hillary's last appearance on her "presidential listening" book tour. Great job!

Sorry, I'm a little late with my appreciation -- I was in Kings Mountain, North Carolina at my youngest son's wedding and out of touch since Thursday. All went well in NC and this report was the first thing I read after our return. Thanks again.
