Funny, it sounded like a not so thinly veiled threat, in the name of God... to me.

If it means that God will guide and protect them.. that's cool.
If it's a "god's gonna get em" type of thing. It's not.
Threatening the USSC in the name of God, over a stone idol?

NOT cool.

Putting up a monument in his own courthouse was within Judge Moore's jurisdiction, so to speak.

Its not "his" courthouse.

"A Supreme Court that never reversed itself would be a meaningless institution."

And one that reverses itself constantly is meaningless as well.

IANAL, I don't play one on TV, and I haven't stayed in a Holiday Inn Express, but legal or illegal, I will trust my sense of Constitutionality over that of the creative imaginings and shifting whims of the blacked robed nine.

Ok, the people of AL should let the judge buy the area where the monument rests. It would then be private property. Yeah, that's silly but as fast as this country is headed straight to hell...

Ok, here's one that would be an easy solution. I suspect they object to the title "Ten Commandments", so do away with it. Post plaques through the hallways with individual commandments. What's illegal about "Don't kill", "Don't steal", "Don't commit adultry"? In fact it's quite appropriate for a courthouse.

Do you think, if the Church was the supreme voice of society like it was in Europe in the Middle Ages, there would be this 'democracy' we live in...oh, and the Whole Republic thing...Romans, before Christ

You have no idea where democracy has its roots do you ? Your ignorance of Christianity is stagering. Me thinks you have swallowed propoganda lock stock and barrel.

"Outrage against tyranny is what the second amendment is all about. (to any liberals who may be lurking, no, it isn't about hunting)"

This is something the centrists and RINOs don't understand. Desperation leads to bloodshed. I really resent having to go through this all over again, being the dove, holding back the hawks. And I am concerned that I might fail this time. I was confident I could hold back the hawks during the Clinton regime. But not this time. The doves' credibility is shot. We failed to deliver on Clinton. Now, the hawks will be less willing to cool down. But I do not want to see the USA follow the same path of Rome. This is Marius and Sulla all over again, history repeating itself. And the centrists don't even have a clue that we are in anarchy and on the brink of something more ugly than they can comprehend.

The 2nd Amendment is for the final stand against tyranny, not prior to every other alternative. Moore has found a way to fight the leftist judicial tyranny without bullets, although he is adept with that alternative, himself, having been a West Point graduate in the 60s.

But this is the point I'm making. I just knew some trigger fingers would be itching over this. I can foresee a new rise in militias. And this time around, guys like me won't be believed as easilly when we say that we can handle all this peacefully. But while peaceful resistance sounds impotent after Clinton pulled off more crimes than even he can remember, this is not really the effective trigger for violence.

If violence erupts over this, it will be more fringe than when abortion clinics were bombed. Those few who do it will be very alone, and you would hear Keyes, Moore, Bush, Hannity, Rush, and Schwartzenegger all team up against the wrongdoer. While it would, in fact, be a war, it would be a war of a dozen extremists at best with the entire world.

We must not call for violence. It set us back terribly in OK City. And now, during a war against terror, it could be even worse.

Playing shell games with the monument, or breaking the monument up into bite sized chunks only cheapens this. The bottom line is: the Federal court overstepped its jurisdiction and state officials are putting Moore on the sacrificial alter to their pagan gods on the bench.

As I understand it, Moore is being accused of establishing a religion. Ok. First off, what is the name of the religion he is establishing? Or are the rules so different now that the accuser need not specify the crime being committed? Is there some sealed information in the courts? Is there some unknown cult he has begun?

Secondly, the burden of proof falls on the accuser. Innocent until proven guilty. What proof is there that Moore is attempting to establish a religion? We can't even name this religion. But put that aside a moment. Did he mention his alleged scheme to anyone? Did he tell anyone that Alabama will be coerced into this mysterious cult? Did he plot to have tax money diverted to this secret cult? I've heard the 'Judeo-Christian Church." Ok. Where is this 'Judeo-Christian' church? Where is its headquarters? What is the structure of its leadership? Has he coerced anyone into joining it?

Placing this monument, which is modelled after a monument in the Supreme Court building and our coinage, does not, in any way, establish a religion. It is nothing but a clue. Frankly, I think that it takes a lot of tinfoil to transform this monument into a plot to establish a particular religion.

Grayout, you are attempting to psycho-analyze 'prideful' Christians. What about turning the tables? What about psychoanalizing self-hating Christians? Grovelling Christians? Multi-cultural Christians?

I agree with you that all Christians fall short. Our faith is both extremely demanding and extremely forgiving at the same time. But all this 'We Christians are the root of all evil' stuff comes from where? Lies, mostly. Lies encouraged by marxists who seek to dismantle and neuter all religions, to replace it with worship of government, just as Carl Marx instructed them to.

Please stop your Christian bashing long enough to take a hard look at Russia, where religion might have been dismantled more effectively than any other place on earth. Is it a wonderful place? The kind of place that you want to raise your kids in? Is crime low there? Is corruption low there?

Whether it is "his" courthouse, more precisely the degree to which the Chief Justice has administrative authority over it, is again a question of Alabama law with which the U.S. Constitution does not concern itself.

Those who want to make a federal case out of every wrong (if any there be here) are gradually turning the States into mere useless appendages, sucking down tax dollars and wasting them in endless consultations with multiple agencies all seeking control over everything. This is not the design of the Founders, and it is not good government.

Blaine was not the author of the 14th Amendment

Who said he was? Two of the authors of the 14th ...

Ah what's the use, you only see what you want to see.

The 'meek' not the prideful shall inherit the earth.

You are also ignorant of the meaning of meek. Hint: Check out your Greek friends and see what the word really means.

Your accross the board bashing of Christianity as being all things antithetical to Science is of course more than just an exageration. Its either a lie if you know history, the result of ignorance or propoganda if you do not.

As to the Greeks, yes they are smart people who put together the first direct democracy. However, they recognised it couldn't survive and it needed to be molded with representative gov't -a concept derivied from and worked out according to biblical principles prior to the US being formed. But yes, those smart Greeks were the first major nation to appreciate and adopt Christianity. Funny how in your world view you look to the Greeks as the keepers of science and wisdom yet fault the same people for adopting Christianity ?

As for your indication that I'm a literalist, please. Go argue with a fundie if you want. I'm not one.

..what he absolutely is not allowed to do is try to force his Christian beliefs onto others through his position as Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court...

Huh? The Ten Commandments is as much a legal document as it is a religious document; in the US, anyway.

Maybe if some of you guys could drop your anti-Christian blinders for a moment, you wouldn't be making such fundamental errors of judgement?

Also...relishing in telling someone you're trying to 'save' how ignorant they are is not the best way to get them on your side.

When some is ignorant its kinder to tell them.

"I shy away from the boogeyman of Communism destroying the planet. That's just too easy."

Being a Hollywood star was too easy for Gonzo. He wanted to be a star in some obscure place, a real challenge.
