Oh and I do realise that others like to bash Christians too. But I'm talking about self-hating Christians. That normally arises from college, or the ripple affects that college generates across the nation. In other words, marxists.

Grayout: "No bashing. Just context. Before you elaborated, you gave the impression the 'Christians' were responsible for most human discovery. You didn't even acknowledge the Greeks until you were pushed. You haven't acknowledge the Romans yet or any other culture for that matter."

Comparing the US with Rome and Greece. I admit that the phalanx was brilliant. But it was still men running around with long, pointy sticks. Romans were clever as well. Once again, long, pointy sticks, along with shorter ones. That was followed by the Dark Ages. More long, pointy sticks. And finally! Someone figures out how to make a decent sturrup.

I dunno. Man on the moon. Probes to Pluto. This internet we are using. Telephones. Radio. TV. Burnable CDs. DVDs. BVDs. Airplanes. Printing machines in many homes. Super colliders. Cloning. Microwave ovens for $30. Even telemarketers.

"I don't quite see what you are driving at."

I'm afraid that I can't even begin to lead you on this in a single week. I'm just trying to wake something up inside of you that others woke inside of me. I used to say the same things you are saying now. But after a few years of 16 hour days of study, something woke up inside of me.

This is the most amazing nation on earth, and that is because it was founded on the worship of God and the love of freedom. When the nazies persecuted free spirits, they fled here. When the Soviets persecuted free spirits, they fled here. Why? But that is only part of the answer. FReegards....

"I live in CA now, and although I don't like illegal immigration, I also see the irony in telling the previous inhabitants to get off the land we rightfully swindled."

We swindled? First of all, you didn't swindle California away from Mexico. Secondly, I didn't swindle California away from Mexico. Thirdly, if you want to see swindling, look at the beaurocrats of Mexico. Spain claimed California as a spoil of conquest. If anyone should complain about comquest, how about native Americans? Then again, I'm part native American. My grandfather was a halfbreed. My mother was part indian. I have indian blood going out my ears. So I should stake my claim in California. Not Spaniards. Give me your land, please. Or I'll scalp you with a rubber tomahawk. Then I'll take some land in Mexico City.

"Evolution in starts and fits. Civilizations are not eternal. This technology we created can also be erased. What are we left with when all this 'stuff' is wiped out? Long pointy sticks."

So you equate the US with Rome and Greece based on that? A prophesy of doom. And I agree that most professors are not marxists, but the left wing mentality, such as multiculturalism, is rooted in marxism. So is the movement that seeks to remove every mention of God from public buildings.

"Conquistadors claimed Mexico in the name of God and Spain."

They were conquerers, no better than the 49rs. Worse, in fact. But hey, I'm a Swiss indian, man! With 49 other races mingled in! Watch out for my Swiss Chocolate Tomahawk. I hope you have a good night. TTYL.

I think the sentence means simply: (Congress shall make no law respection an establishment of religion) Congress shall make NO law REGARDING (that deals with the subject of) an (any) establishment (enterprise) of religion.

It would help to get webster's dictionary OF THAT Time and see why this would not be supportable.

Alt Reading A: Congress shall make no law that deals with the subject of any enterprise of religion.

Alt Reading B: Congress shall make no law that deals with an ESTABLISHING of a particular religion (as an official national religion.)

I think we are in general agreement here. From my studies of the period, I believe that the intent of the founders was to ensure that the national government would not, in any way, interfere with the practice of religion, though for the most part they were all intensely religious men by todays standards(Excepting, of course, a few notable atheists). I do not think they would have approved of the Feds today prohibiting things like a teacher wearing a crucifix in the classroom or displaying nativity scenes on public property and they certainly would have been appalled at the subject of this thread. Unfortunately, living on a sailboat, I don't have any reference material at hand so I can't give any relevant quotes. I'm working from my admittedly not as good as it once was memory.

By the way, I appreciate your open-mindedness.

Hey, when you're wrong, you're wrong. I'd rather have my mistakes pointed out and corrected, so I can be right next time, than continue to embarrass myself.

ah...ignorant, or just different dogmas?

If your dogma is that Christians are harmfull to science then you are just plain wrong. Your posistion is no longer one of ignorance which could be excused. After explaining it to you your posistion that Christians are as a group harmful to science is puire bigotry.

You haven't refuted anything I've put forth except the "Just...shut up, stupid" defense that gets picked up in the schoolyard.

First, I never said shut up. You have me confused with someone else. Second, Can I help it if you didn't read the various posts I copied for you ?

I'm not saying Christianity is bad, shame on you for believing it. I'm saying its not the only thing around. Lets not narrow our worldview too much.

If your a Christian then there can be no other religion that is acceptable. As to the sciene, the topic you raised that Christians are causing harm to, its you who needs to get a more balanced view of the world.

As far as being kind, I had no intentions of beign kind to someone who takes arrogant and ignorant posistions with a condenceding attitude. However, taking the time to tell someon they are ignorant is the least I can do for a fellow Christian.

This technology we created can also be erased

Dumbest statement of the year. Where did you get this stuff ? Nust have been some marxists teachers. I thought Wildfire was grasping at straws but it seems he may have nailed it.
