"I agree with Rush so far. But there are still candidates campaigning for governor of California who are without a doubt conservative..."

And to date, after months of campaigning, they both remain in single digits (3rd and 4th places nailed down).

As well as "real conservatives" like McClintock, he is sorely short of money. His name recognition is still low, and he has limited appeal to the middle-of-the-road voters (a must to win most elections, and particularly Calif).

The election winner will be Bustamante or Arnold. I predict Arnold. (I favor McClintock, but I operate my life and mind with realism).

"How old is George Shultz?"

I just saw in an article, it said he is 72 and Buffett is 82.

Rush got caught telling the truth, but has returned to his usual Establishment/Republican-hack mantra. I'm sure after Bush gave his imprimatur, Rush realized it was time to stop being honest and start beating the pseudo-conservative drums.

What a disgrace.

Big BUMP!

This title is very misleading. Did you listen to Limbaugh today, at all? He spent three hours not doing Schwarzenegger any favors. This article hangs it's threadbare hat on the fact Limbaugh said he think Schwarzenegger started out with conservative principles- and should come back to them. But he could only come back to them, because he drifted away from them. So says Limbaugh.

We can get on Arnold's toes when he get out of line or we'll recall him too.

Agreed!

Rush realized conservatives can't be simon pure. Heck, even Ivory Soap is only 99 1/2 pure. The truth is Arnold is a dream candidate. Is he the ideal candidate? No. Every conservative has acknowledged this. But we have to decide if building a foundation for conservative candidates to be taken seriously by California voters in the future is important. Arnold makes its cool to be a Republican. And whether we like or not, this is our party and regardless of our differences, its in our interest to help it win and toss The Doofus out on his rear end.

We can hope. We all saw Wednesday Arnold said things a Democrat would never say. Does he really mean them? I guess we'll find out.

I have no arguments with your points. Let's support the best Republican we can on election day. By the way, did you hear that Ueberroth came out against Proposition 187?

I must respectfully disagree that electing a LIBERAL will do anything for conservatives in California. If anything, when people see the scant differences between Ahnuld and other liberals, people will vote LIBERAL.

Was your impression of Arnold the same yesterday after that press conference? I thought I heard Large Breasts the other day promise to foreswear tax increases and endorse a Taxpayers Bill Of Rights. I must be mistaken.

It will break the long entranched Democrat machinery, making it easier for future Republicans.

Rush said that conservative ideas are needed most in troubled times. That the country needed conservative solutions in the troubles of 1980, like California today.

Agreed. What we haven't tried is what works. What we've gone through is what has failed.

SO -- is Rush a RINO or is Arnold a conservative?

Don't know. Could Ahnold be a closet conservative? Doubtful. But it's also possible the Rush knows something we don't. He probably gets a lot of inside info.

I still think this recall is a bad move. If a Repub wins, is he going to turn that behemoth around in less than 1.5 years? If he wins and doesn't, it's The Republicans' Fault. Unless the average voter is smarter than that by then. At the least, the next two years will be....interesting.

Long entrenched machinery? California had a Republican governor all through the 90s until '99. At this time, Schwarzenegger looks like he will only further entrench the Pete Wilson/Richard Riordan Republicans. And guess who got the Republican Party in this state to the condition it's in now? People like Pete Wilson and Richard Riordan. Can you explain to me how endorsing and donating money to Gray Davis, Dianne Feinstein, and Maxine Waters helps the Republican Party?

I see, so you prefer Bustamante to Pete Wilson.

You said that, not me. Why do you think so little of moderates and conservatives? And why do you think strategies that have failed miserably in the past will work next time.

I don't think he is a conservative, but I feel for anyone that gets labelled a nazi and bigot within days of his run for office. Therefore, according to Katie Couric, he must be a Republican.

You prefer Maxine Water, Dianne Feinstein, and Gray Davis? Schwarzenegger's policy advisor did.
