Stephen Hopkins, pastor of Burnet Bible Church in Burnet, Texas, was one of those arrested. He said he was willing to be arrested even though he has 10 children. "This is a great hypocrisy," Hopkins said. "This is an assault on God. They're saying we're going to cover up God."
Idolatry - of course, what do you expect from untrained pastors....

Perhaps Judge Moore should resign from the bench, the better to devote his time to his 10 Commandments crusade? Just a thought.

I'll guarantee that the routine work of that court has been on a slow crawl with all this going on. You know, the stuff they get paid to do - hearing appeals, writing opinions, considering emergency writs, etc......

"Not only did Judge Thompson put himself above the law, but above God as well," Moore told his supporters Thursday. i.e., "He put himself above me!"

So say I'm appealling a conviction for failure to pay child support case to the Alabama Supreme Court, and if I quote Chief Judge Moore saying, "If the rule of law means to do everything a judge tells you to do, we would still have slavery in this country," I'd get the conviction overturned, right?

Sure - Moore's stance is no different from that of the flag fringers, constimatooshinalists, David::Winn::::Miller::#:#:#:#, or any other nutcase that ever came down the pike and holed up in his trailer against the cops with 8 dozen cases of crappy beer, a rifle and lots of ammo.

God and the law couldn't be there, so Roy figured he'd pinch-hit, I guess. Humility not, obviously, being his strong suit.
Oh Lord, it's hard to be humble,
When you're perfect in every way,
I can't wait to look in the mirror,
Cuz I get better lookin' each day.
To know me is to love me,
I must be a hell of a man,
Oh Lord, it's hard to be humble,
But I'm doin' the best that I can.

I've heard the "child support is slavery" argument many a time, but now, it would seem, refusal to comply with a child support order--because it's slavery--now have a valid argument to use in Alabama. The same could apply to cases involving the IRS or a state dept. of taxation, in fact, in any case in which the defendant faces what he or she thinks is an onerous burden on them.

The law won, God stays where He should have been all along - the still, small voice from within - and Roy Moore will eventually get to play martyr when some poor sap, probably the A-G or the building manager at the courthouse, gets tired of hauling Moore's piss-bucket around and takes the monument down. Then everyone will be a winner - God, the law, and Roy Moore, just as soon as he can pretend that he just got nailed to a cross. So what's the big deal?
Cheers ;)

...so what's the big deal?.......the big deal is that there's this war happening- on the Constitution, on values and on principles. Liberal maggots are prosecuting it, and men like Moore are opposing it. Here on FR, we have a handful of posters who are unable to win any respect by virtue of their posts or their activism, but can attract attention and notoriety through the slandering of those who are actually standing up for what's right. In their sick little minds, running down a man like Moore, somehow narrows the accomplishment gap between their mediocrity, and his stature.
But hey, why am I telling you this? Keep narrowing, 'general.'

I have a serious question about this from the article:
...the monument's placement violated the Constitution's ban on government promotion of a religious doctrine
Seriously, what Constitution are they talking about? What ban? TELL me they DON'T mean the Constitution of the United States. TELL me that they DON'T mean the prohibition of CONGRESS (not the court) of enacting any LAW (not allowing a monument) respecting an establishment of religion NOR PROHIBITING THE FREE EXERCISE THEREOF.
And TELL me that, if this objective article DID mean something, the public would discredit this news source into everlasting obscurity.

I doubt that the court is in session during the summer.

In their sick little minds, running down a man like Moore, somehow narrows the accomplishment gap between their mediocrity, and his stature. LOL - I heard the same exact thing, word for word, about Robert Tilton. And Jimmy Swaggart. And Jim Bakker. And Peter Popoff.
Whatever - I'm sure Roy will waltz into the governor's mansion on the coattails of this affair, and then he'll be a winner too, just as soon as he collects his thirty pieces of silver...

The worst part about this is that, right on cue, CNN and the national media (who never visit Alabama for any story other than a bad one) are painting this guy as the caricature of all conservative, Evangelical Christians. You're wondering what court duties are being missed... great point; as a Christian, I'm also wondering how many people's lives are meaningfully changed or introduced to Christ through this. This is all about pride and TV time (and catching up on missed bonus points for having missed church that one Sunday a few months back, etc.)

Maybe you ought to check out the monument, yourself- especially the part about envy.

Moore's ego is breathtaking. He truly deserves a place beside the purple haired one!
