SAN DIEGO - The Earth Liberation Front suggested that a $50 million fire that destroyed an apartment complex under construction in San Diego two weeks ago was targeting "rampant urban development."

The Aug. 3 arson on San Diego's fast-growing northern edge was said to be the costliest action ever by the ELF, an underground group that since 1996 has claimed responsibility for arson attacks against commercial entities that members say threaten or damage the environment.

Believe it or not, some lone human on DU brought this up after dozens of posts justifying and even celebrating the burning of the car dealership. He said "the pollution from the smoke you caused is worse than the emissions from the Hummers". They of course were oblivious to reason and they don't even consider it was wrong, as long as terrorism advances 'progressive causes'.

I don't blame the Democrats for this per se, but I DO blame them for the following:

- The silence from the Libs is deafening. Where are the calls for arrests? The calls for justice? The condemnations? The fact is, while these particular ELF pukes are indeed too extreme even for Democrats, there are likely a lot of other environmentalists that may secretly sympathise or even agree with them. The Dems are, methinks, afraid of alienating people who DO vote Democrat.

- Moving so far to the left, especially with regard to envoronmental causes, that so many people seem to think this kind of behavior is acceptable. Case in point: prior to the 1960's, for instance, would acts like this have taken place, EVER? What would have been the popular reaction? Different times, you might say, and you'd be right. Who was responsible for the cultural shift since then? It sure as heck wasn't Conservatives, of any stripe. I think it's safe to place this onus ENTIRELY on "modern" Democrats. What our culture has become since 1960 or so is utterly sickening.

A few months ago, I came across a website by one of these econuts and the person was openly calling for people to attack the USA- not mincing any words at all. I wrote the FBI, The Homeland Security Dep't, The Secret Service and demanded that they look into this. The website stayed. They just ignored this. I even put "imminent terrorist cell attack in my subject line to each of those offices. They just ignore these guys. The gov't needs to start cracking down on these terrorists.

Here's some of it here. I urge everyone to look at this page for at least your own information but here are the good parts:

1) Attack the financial centers of the country. Using covert or black block techniques, depending on the situation, physically shut down financial centers which regulate and assist the functioning of U.S. economy. This can be done in a variety of ways from massive property destruction, to online sabotage, to physical occupation of buildings. However the latter I would shy away from, especially the open civil disobedience type of activities which purposely involve arrests. This movement needs all the assistance it can get and absolutely NO good will come from going to jail. Allowing yourself to be purposely arrested demonstrates that an individual has at least some faith in the U.S. legal system. This is completely foolish. One primary objective is to engage in serious unrest and disruption and NOT to get caught. Not getting caught means you are able to continue the struggle the next day.

2) Large scale urban rioting. With massive unrest and even state of emergencies declared in major cities across the country, the U.S. government will be forced to send U.S. troops into the domestic arena thereby taking resources and political focus away from the war. Unstable conditions in much of the country also serve as a political embarrassment for the Administration and could assist in forcing them to stop the war to deal with domestic concerns. Rioting should be focused on governmental agencies and corporations - especially those that are profiting from the war or destruction of life.

3) Attack the media centers of the country. It is the corporate media who has and continues to influence and control the minds of the mass body of people in the United States. These new media outlets cannot be utilized by the movement as they are owned by the very corporations one should be opposing. Using any means necessary, shut down the national networks of NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, etc. Not just occupations but actually engage in strategies and tactics which knock the networks off the air.

4) Spread the battle to the individuals responsible for the war and destruction of life – the very heads of government and U.S. corporations. No longer should these people be able to hide behind their occupations, living their lives in peace while they simultaneously slaughter countless people. Hit them in their personal lives, visit their homes, and make them feel personally responsible for committing massive atrocities.

5) Make it known publicly that this movement DOES NOT support U.S. troops as long as they are serving an unjust and horrifying political regime. Create an atmosphere lacking of support to assist U.S. troops at home and abroad in losing their morale and will to fight. If you are supporting the troops you are supporting this war and the very U.S. government that is the primary terrorist regime in the international arena.

6) Actively target U.S. military establishments within the United States. Again, following the above stated goal of NOT getting caught, use any means necessary to slow down the functioning of the murdering body.

7) When engaging in the above six activities, strike hard and fast and retreat in anonymity. Select another location, strike again hard and fast and quickly retreat in anonymity. Engage only in actions where you will be victorious. Do not be concerned with alienating the mainstream sectors of the movement – that mainstream has NEVER stopped a U.S. military activity or war. Do not get caught. DO NOT GET CAUGHT. Do not get sent to jail. Stay alert, keep active, and keep fighting. Remember, an action is only good (especially at this juncture in U.S. society) if it will serve to severely disrupt the political system of the country, its economy, and the corporate interests that drive this society.

Yep. And what gets me is all three of those agencies just ignored it as far as I can tell. I got no return emails. The webpage is still there. The al Qaeda sites get taken down pretty quick when they find them apparantly. What's different from Muslim terrorists talking about attacking the US and Green ones? I can't figure it out. It's like they willfully ignore this problem.

I tell you what. Eventually, al Qaeda is going to have to start utilizing normal looking Americans to carry out attacks. These ecoterrorists are the perfect place for them to recruit. Their goals are the same. Al Qaeda could provide them with the skill and the cash and they could go out with their non-swarthy complexion and wreak havoc. ELF wants to destroy important stuff and so does al Qaeda. Eventually they're going to hook up.

Oh, the mods at DU are stupid. As long as you keep saying "I'm a democrat" you're good. I infiltrated that site during the buildup to and during the war itself. Sort of to combat some of their nastier anti-military sentiments. I managed to get over a thousand posts- which is what they seem to think of as "legit". They received a lot of complaints but I just kept telling them I was a conservative dem. Finally got sick of it and turned myself in. Literally wrote the moderators a note and told them "I'm an infiltrator/disruptor, nimrods!". Of course, then they banned me.

More civilians(This includes women and children) were killed in the campaign in Iraq than American soldiers. The general populous doesn't seem to care, with the overall opinion being that the lives of "those commie ragheads" don't seem to count. Any of the people that may have suffered from smoke inhalation resulting from the fire are seen as "collateral damage" where overall statement resulting from the act is what counts in both the "war" and the subversive actions lead by independant ELF cells.
ELF considers themselves outsiders to the majority of the U.S population, which they see as sheep that adhere to "the system" and consume, procreate, and destroy without thought of the consequences. Such individuals that suffer from smoke inhalation, job loss, or any other negative consequences of their actions are viewed in the same light by ELF as the collateral damadge in Iraq, both are necessary and justified. Both "domestic terrorists" and the Bush administration are using the same tactics. Both are fighting for what they thinks is right. Both are going to extremes to see it through. As far as collateral damadge is concerned, who do you think has the longest list?
