I am 100 meters from the Gateway of India. Family is alright, but we had damage to our window frame in the hotel. Significant, but superficial, damage to the Taj Mahal Hotel.

2 confirmed dead at the Gateway, the other 25 at the other blast.

Amazing how other religions always bury the ruins of their holy sites under Islamic mosques isn't it?

And how each site is the most holy?

Dude, I've complained about India needing to get its act together and line up with America, but today I'll put my politics aside. We're all Indians today. Take care...

Indian market down 3.22%

9/11-style meltdown in progress -- people must be worried about foreign investment in IT offshoring if India starts experiencing disruptive terrorist violence

132 WIA! That's a huge number. Any Hindu's seeking Muslims yet? It's just a matter of time....

I am an American (and of European descent).

I work for the US Government.

They will tell us that we need to line up with them vis-a-vis Pakistan.

Both are correct in many ways.

Most of the city does not know yet. I found out from Indian friends who called me to ask if we were OK.

Alert in Gujarat and New Delhi.

Police have shut down a lot of the telephone network.

No US casualties so far, but could be some tourists at the market.

Foxnews website just says "Bombay bomb blast toll up to 25". Why they have no further info I don't know.

As if people in India didn't have it tough enough already. Dang, you've gotta be pretty darn low to have to bomb India's citizens to bring them down to your level.

The Babri Masjid was torn down on December 6th, 1992. I should know as I was there.

Yes, I need to come around more to India's point of view, thanks. My main argument with some Indians is that the've strongly argued that we should have attacked Pakistan (or even Saudi Arabia before Iraq). I didn't think that was feasible in the first quarter of 2003, but now with the Taliban playing Laos-style hit and run with us in Afghanistan from northern Pakistan, I think we need to get a lot tougher. At least we turned them down for their F16 purchase!

In any case, my sympathies are strongly with India today, even if they think we're fighting the war on terrorism backwards. Our State Department does a lot of things backwards. There's entirely too much CFR influence, elitism at its worst. State seriously thinks America can do anything just by throwing money and influence at it.

Actually it seems I'm wrong- there is an article, under Latest Headlines. Looks to be an AP report.
The banner updates the death toll.-

At Least Two Blasts Rock Bombay, Killing Six

Monday, August 25, 2003

BOMBAY, India — At least two explosions rocked Bombay (search), India's financial capital, on Monday, police said. New Delhi Television reported that six people were killed and 10 injured in four simultaneous blasts.

Javed Ahmed, police commissioner for Bombay, said he was only aware of two explosions, one of which was near the Gateway of India (search), a famous landmark built by India's former British colonizers. He had no information on casualties.

The other explosion, also in southern Bombay, was near the Pydhonie police station, Ahmed said.

The television report said that six people were killed and 10 were injured in four blasts, but gave no further information.
