"... I thought this country was founded on a principle of progressive taxation.” Wesley Clark, Meet the Press, 15 June 2003

To a certain extent he is correct, at least according to Jefferson's writings. Jefferson clearly stated the the well off would provide a larger part of government funding, it was just done thru the tariff structure instead of direct taxation.

Only during his twenties, he says, did Wesley discover that the father who died suddenly of a heart attack at age 51 when he was five was Jewish – and that his own middle name Kanne was that of his father Benjamin Jacob Kanne. Ok. This is getting ridiculous.

Clinton did. Wesley Clark’s command at Fort Hood “lent” 17 pieces of armor and 15 active service personnel under his command to the Waco Branch Davidian operation. It is absolute fact that the military equipment used by the government at Waco came from Fort Hood and Clark’s command.

If my memory serves correctly, I believe the military was snookered into providing support under the guise of the war on drugs.

I was at Ft Hood during the waco fiasco. There were rumors floating around about helo pilots refusing to fly any waco missions and getting orders for "elsewhere" immediately after. Rumors are just that, rumors, I never met any of the pilots in question, but the rumors were floating around both airfields. The whole thing smelled, and made its way down in the ranks. At least in the Avn companies where enlisted and warrants and officers mingled quite a bit more.

Clark is a PC weasel. Met him, wasn't impressed. Some of his antics as CO of 1st Cav were just unbelieveable.

In July, prior to going to Somalia in August, we were at the NTC in Ca. Movie stars getting rides on hawks and hueys. Lotsa Vegas trips for division level officers. Probably the worst rotation I was ever on. Stupidity reigned that trip. Our company commander and first sergeant did thier best to relieve alot of it tho. I remember alot of dog and pony shows at our airfield during his reign. Parade grounds in front of division were never busier than when he was in charge.

As a comparison at the opposite end of things, when Franks was DivCom, I think we only did the change of command for him, then we trained a helluva lot, and it was a good time to be in 1st Cav.

Clark being in any position in our executive branch during these trying days is a thought that truly scares me. More so than Hillary in a similar position. This is hot stuff whenever Clark's name is mentioned in the same breath as a political career this should be brought up.

Oh, neglected to mention that I strongly suspect the 1st Cav's OH-58D platoon was Clarks way to get his nose under the tent in the Task Force Ranger mission in Somalia.

They always told us it was because we were the only ones ready to deploy at a moments notice, yet there were rapidly deployable 58D platoons already at Bragg and Campbell.

Hmmm.

Weasely Clark is a stalking horse for the Hillary! Campaign. She will end up with the brass ring. He will end up with second place as her sopish attempt to balance the ticket with a "military" man and therefore not scare the H#ll out of the American People.

The Nine Midgets will get nothing!

And where did all those documents and signatures end up that proved that there was suspected drug lab was at WACO. (musta burned in those hot flames)

"I believe the military was snookered into providing support under the guise of the war on drugs."

I believe you are right. The question is, "Who was snookered?" Was it Clark? Or was it somebody who reported to Clark? Or somebody above Clark?

Whatever, it's always seemed clear that Clark's subsequent promotions constituted a "reward" from the Clintons. Or, perhaps, a "bribe"...

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if it was true but I would like some proof rather than conjecture.

The assault on that compound was one of the most shameful acts in X42's tenure. Of course, the entire administration was a disgrace and we are paying dearly for it now

The guy's basically a war criminal and a certified, bonafide baby-killer. He tried to bomb the Serbian military from 30,000' for two or three weeks and when he figured out that wasn't working, he embarked upon a wholesale campaign of war crimes, basically trying to make the lives of ordinary Serbs so miserable and horrific that they'd somehow or other force Milosevic to hand the ancient heartland of Serbia over to the KLA/AlQuaeda narco-terrorists.

How did Clark achieve his fluency in Russian? It's very hard to become fluent in a language if you don't live for a while in a country where the language is spoken. (I studied German several years in high school and college, spent a good deal of time in Germany and Austria, including being stationed two years in Berlin, had training in German for a few weeks at the Defense Language Institute, and read the language all the time. My German is quite good. But I wouldn't call it fluent.) Did Clark spend some time in the Soviet Union at some point in his career?
