Wesley Clark Admits He Lied
Fox News | August 26, 2003 | Fox News

Posted on 08/26/2003 4:55:03 PM PDT by Peach

Wesley Clark admitted the White House DID NOT pressure him to lie that Iraq was behind 9/11. He now admits it was a Canadian think tank.

Previously, Clark had insisted that the White House called him, as the towers were falling, to pressure Clark to go national that Iraq was behind the attack. He has backed off that claim and admits he was "confused".

Yeah, on 9/11 with everything that was going on, someone at the White House thought, "Gee, we'd better get ahold of Wesley Clark and give him our talking points."

That's as likely as Chelsea Clinton's first thoughts after the attack on 9/11 being about those "tax cuts for the rich."

I'd forgotten to add that - FNC tonight discussed how he was fired by Clinton and Cohen. Even the leftists couldn't stand him. Thanks for the reminder.

I believe the term megalomaniac was also used...

Sounds like he and Perot would be a good team.

Yes, FNC really did report that Clinton and Cohen "fired" Clark!

He has backed off that claim and admits he was "confused".

That's what insane people often do when forced to confront reality. He's probably blathering to himself in some dark room right now, vowing vengence against "them" (after having smashed some office furniture and spewing miscellaneous threats like he normally does, of course).

I often confuse Canadian think tanks with the White House! Perhaps the Canadian think tank was actually Peter Jennings looking for a little scandal.

"I received a call from a Middle East think tank outside the country, asking me to link 9/11 to Saddam Hussein. "

Peach, there's a big diff between the Middle East and Canada!

So I suppose Wesley Clark was on retainer by the Saudis? Will he name the "think tank???" Is he a patriot???

LOL. It was a Canadian think tank, they said on FNC. Perhaps it was Peter Jennings!

Hussein and 9/11

To the Editor:

I would like to correct any possible misunderstanding of my remarks on ''Meet the Press,'' quoted in Paul Krugman's July 15 column, about ''people around the White House'' seeking to link Sept. 11 to Saddam Hussein.

I received a call from a Middle East think tank outside the country, asking me to link 9/11 to Saddam Hussein. No one from the White House asked me to link Saddam Hussein to Sept. 11. Subsequently, I learned that there was much discussion inside the administration in the days immediately after Sept. 11 trying to use 9/11 to go after Saddam Hussein.

In other words, there were many people, inside and outside the government, who tried to link Saddam Hussein to Sept. 11.

Great post. THanks for Clark's exact words on Meet the Press. There's no way that squares with his "clarification" in his letter to the NYT editor.

Thanks again for that link. FNC reported Clark now says it was a Canadian think tank. Guess we get to pick which lie to believe!

He has backed off that claim and admits he was "confused".

If he was a Republican, or most anything but Dem or Green, his political career would be over, before it even begins. But for those two categories, being "confused" seems to be a pre-requisite for high office. At the very least, it's career enhancing.

You know, I will bet if we search long and hard, we can find some even more audacious examples of his lying.

After today's Brit Hume show, I am not a bit afraid of this guy. He does look like a Hollywood general, but I think he is a dim bulb. And I bet there is some really inteesting stuff in both his military records and his background (wasn't he at Oxford?).
