One big problem for the Giants. PHILADELPHIA! The Giants are good and getting better but they ain't there yet.

I remember at Thanksgiving of that year my sister asked me if I thought the Steelers (who were rolling) would go to the SB. I replied that they had the talent and the only team that scared me at all was the Pats (who were just starting to make some noise). They "get into the other teams head" (i.e.-Steeler/Rams games) like no team I've ever seen....and that's coaching!

I was in NY during the Giant years, and agree with how big a factor Belicik was in both Giant SB wins. I'm not completely sold on their O line or running game, so Belicik better keep his pencils sharp.

I seriously doubt either team will get past the first round of the playoffs (if they make the playoffs), let alone reach the Super Bowl. I can see an all-Florida bowl of Tampa Bay v. Miami.

I don't think you "clobbered" either team...you lucked out against Oakland

Who could forget those epic 'tuck rule' threads right here on FR?

I've said for several weeks now that the Giants can finish anywhere from 5-11 to 11-5 this season. They don't have any excuses, as you've said. But they do have a serious lack of depth at some key positions (especially on defense), and age will become a serious factor on the defensive line.

As long as the offensive line holds together and plays well, the offense should put a lot of points on the board. I am disturbed that they don't have a single short-yardage tight end on the roster.

P.S. You might be surprised to learn that folks who live in the area around Banff aren't too impressed with it. It's too much of a tourist hot-spot. Very picturesque, but if you want to see some really rugged back country you ought to visit places up and down the eastern foothills of the Canadian Rockies, from the Ghost River Wilderness in the south up to the White Goat and Willmore Wilderness areas further north. These aren't nearly as "pretty" as the four national parks in the Rockies, but you could go for days in some of those places without seeing anyone. Much of the foothills region in Alberta is accessible only via gravel and dirt roads, and you shouldn't drive there unless you don't mind sharing the road with a lot of logging trucks.

I'm glad I wasn't a Raider fan...that must've really hurt.

I don't know what would hurt more, playing a terrific game in horrible conditions and losing on a very debateable call and a miracle kick...or going to the Big Show and flat out getting their a$$es kicked nine ways to sunday.

The 49ers of the 1980s were known for their offensive stars, but they had one of the most underrated, unappreciated defensive units in the last thirty years.

I think the 49ers defined the word "chemistry," too.

The fact that Miami is a viable Super Bowl contender is a scathing indictment of the National Football League. Since the implementation of the salary cap, it has become almost routine for teams with marginal quarterbacks or unsettled QB situations to reach the Super Bowl.

I fully agree....while the O was always in the top three hardly anyone talked about their D, which was usually in the top five.

My rule of thumb for measuring a teams dangerousness is when both units rate 6 or better.

For a few years the 9ers had maybe the best, or at least one of the best, secondaries I ever saw...I think they sent the whole group (Lott, Wright, Hicks, and Williamson) to the pro bowl, and I think they were youngsters!

Believe me, a good ol' thrashing would've been preferrable. Something the mind can comprehend.

When I think of that team I see professional parallels to the mid-late 90s Yankees and the Bird, Mchale,Parrish, Johnson Celtics.

Always business like, very tough physically and mentally, quietly classy, and sorta' self-governing.

Yeah it'll help but there's always the basic problem that any time our corners wind up one-on-one they're in trouble. Actually Washington is OK if he gets the chance to go one-on-one but he lines up so soft that you can pass on him all day without giving him that chance.

Yeah the o-line is looking pretty weak lately. And I hate to say it but it's probably time for Bettis to retire, or maybe switch to fullback and do primarily blocking, he just doesn't seem to have the oomph hitting the holes anymore.

Well, it helps when the holes are there to hit. There really is nothing better than letting a Bettis wear down a losing team in the 4th quarter.

I believe the Bengals have already been eliminated from the playoff hunt.

The Bungles are already "on the clock" for the 2004 draft.

But the years are wearing on him, I don't think he's got the 4th quarter power anymore. It's time to start using Fu as the power back more, 5 years younger and a close physical match. The Bus is on his 11th year in a position where the average career is 7, those extra years start adding up fast.

Piffle. The Rams won't make the playoffs (again), and the Raiders will do themselves in somehow (penalties, injuries, suspensions, in-house fights, etc.)

SB38 will be Philly over Tennesee with 14 killed in the celebratory rioting afterwards.
