Personally, I went to my local Borders looking for Coulter's book (I'd already bought it at Sam's Club, I just wanted to see how Borders was handling it since I was at the mall anyway). I found an even worse situation than yours: They were listing the same bestsellers, with Ann at #4 and Hillary at #5 (or vice versa, I can't remember), but Ann's book was the only one COMPLETELY MISSING from the bestseller shelves. The other nineteen were all available for sale in copious quantities. I went to ask what was up (from several different employees to make sure I wasn't getting some ginned-up story), and they all said the same thing: completely sold out. Come back tomorrow.

Which I did, and indeed Ann's book was on the bestseller shelves where it was supposed to be (and already half gone, while all the other "bestsellers" just sat there.

I really do think this sort of game is played by individual store managers with grudges.
