Hey, if the marriages don't work out, aren't the G.I.s who converted to Islam allowed to "whack" the wifes or have a family member do it?

You need permission to marry a foriegn national If that's a question, then the answer is yes. Years ago, I was stationed in Turkey. One of the guys wanted to marry a local girl. We were told that it would take 6 months to do the paperwork.

If these were Afro-American soldiers, why was their race not stated in the article? If these guys were white-bread, cracker, honkey-American soldiers, why was their race not stated in the article?

Some of these Iraqi chicks are hot. Olive skin with hazel, green or even blue eyes. And beautiful. Not like the monkeys you find in Ramallah, Amman and Cairo.

Wish them the best but starting out with a conversion of convience will come back to haunt them. Or to haunt US when he starts grenading fellow soldiers or sniping suburban Americans, like two other Black military-Muslims we know all about.

And would these Iraqi women define the term "Camel Toe?"

If these were Afro-American soldiers, why was their race not stated in the article? Why should it be?
Maybe because Afro-Americans have a tradition of converting to Islam which caucasians who also live the american experience do not share to the same degree.
Sorry, John Walker Lind does not count the same as "Cassius Clay."

I'm with you--and I have a question, why did they have to get married NOW? It seems that if their officers told them to wait until the conflict was over, or at least a few months? What's the hurry?
That said, I have to say for the record that I am taking a Swedish for Immigrants class, and out of thirty or so students, at least 20 are Iraquis--mainly gals in their mid twenties. These are really pretty girls, and most of them speak English well. Of course, every single one of them is shocked and amazed that I am an American in Sweden, because they all have said that moving to America is their ultimate goal. Not too surprised that the ladies in the article took the opportunity that was handed to them!

Geraldine Brooks' "Nine Parts of Desire," a book about women in Islam. I thought women in Islam had their, um, sexual enjoyment ruined by an "operation" when they turned 12?? Is this only in Saudi?

Sorry, it wasn't a question. It was just information that was left out of the article.

Maybe 'cause it's 130 degrees and they been there 6 months, looking at another 6.
To: Jones14nets
Conversely, if the brides ever arrive in the Western world they may find that the Christian world is quite different from the Muslim world, and decide to change their faith. We can only wish them well. I believe Mel Gibson's "The Passion" will convert more Muslims to Christ than all the missionaries in history.
To: nathanbedford
No argument there. I just find it interesting that you chost to inject race into this, Nathan Bedford. Perhaps, considering your screen name, I should not be.
